Personally I'd class a runnIng track,a portacabin, one stand and a random detached house as disappointing, what was he expecting??

"A curious experience. Expensive admission to a disapointing stadium although the pitch appeared very good"

I think he is having a go at our admission price rather than the ground, if I was trying to read his mind... ???

Another one says "I do like Altys ground, bags of character."

So that evens it up a bit.

As you say though, what was he expecting.

Perhaps he was an old BPA fan, remembering his roots....

I always loved that Park Avenue had the cricket ground, but wasn't three sided. Proper stadium.

So that's what it looked like - only time we played there was a 3-2 win in a serious pea souper. I fear I'm fading into one of those BBC 4 retro themed wotsits.

Yes, went to that one. Wasn't Laurie Brown our player/manager then? Could be mistaken about that though as he came from BPA too I think and was their manager when the dropped out of the FL I believe.
Remember being really impressed by the raised pitch like OT, the nice programme (still got it) and the view through the back of the main stand over the cricket ground!
Happy days!

Our manager for the 3-2 win was the late great Roy Rees in his first full season.

You're correct MG.
Brown was Alty manager the previous year (i.e. Aug 69 to Sept 70) that would mean also that he wasn't with BPA when they left the league
