Still never fails to amuse me ...
« on: June 29, 2011, 03:49:31 PM »

Went for a job interview today and got on to talking about football and of course Altrincham FC. The interviewer came out with "Oh they were relegated weren't they from the GM Vauxhall Conference" ....

How can someone have knowledge of our relegation but not realise the league has moved on a bit since then ? I didn't say anything as awaiting the response to the interview :o)

The best bit was the interview was for a job at FORD !!!!

Oh no, the 'jungle is masssssssssssssssssive' posse will not be graced with my presence.

We have a big Ford place here, next door to where I work now.. College, offices and a warehouse the size of 27 football pitches..

The best bit was the interview was for a job at FORD !!!!

My Robbie was guest of a local school's intrumental evening last night as he is one of the best Recorder players in the area though he is only in his first year of junior School. He played the Blue Peter theme and also Match of the day. His teacher introduced him as a football fanactic and in front of a packed hall asked "who do you support Robbie, Millwall"? They were totally bemused when he said "Alty" instead of the usual Chelsea, Arsenal, Palace, Man U ect...

Good lad - spread the word

When I tell folks around here that I go to watch footy near Manchester they all assume I go to Eastlands or OT when I tell them it is Alty that I watch they look at me but they all, to a man have heard of Alty and the reputation they have in FA Cup (albeit not in recent years)  ....
