Anyone know why Stoke City have perversely adopted that song ?

In the build up to the cup final I heard/read a story that it was something to do with the police coming into a pub and asking a group of Stoke fans to tone down the language in the songs they were singing. The next song on the jukebox was Delilah and they started singing that instead.
