another little twitter snippet :-

jaka03 ----->  SteveRobsonMEN
Any hints to whether his plan was to clear out or build around last years squad?

Steve Robson MEN -----> jaka03

 pretty tight-lipped but admitted it also depends on the players themselves as who wants to stay and who might go.

come on Lads - make sense for you to stay!!

Having had a few hours to digest the news I am still really excited by this appointment. It just makes sense in every way and I hope he can repeat and improve upon the success he had at Farsley Celtic, using the best of our exisiting players and adding quallity wherever possible.

First job: sign Steve Connors. (You know it makes sense!)

Feeling really positive tonight!  :)

Yes, he did 1980 - odd (4 or 5 I think?)

I felt very happy when I read the news at dinnertime, and having read the interview on the website, I am even more pleased. His talk aiming to win the league, though it may not happen, is exactly what you want to hear, and saying he wants to make his mark in the clubs history.

Welcome Lee, and good luck.

What a fantastic interview and what a positive and healthy attitude to the job and the club he has.

All the best, Lee, we're all right behind you in your quest to take us forward to winning ways

warm welcome to Lee.  My nephew was at Farsley Celtic when Lee was manager there.  Very highly thought of. Lee, not my nephew!

A lot of baggage at vale so I'm not going to use that as evidence about Lee's abillities.

From a Port Vale fan:-

"Very good appointment for Altrincham. The reason he lost his job at Vale was more due to behind the scenes issues involving him constantly undermined by the board and his assistant (who was bitter he missed out on the job to him). He has a good eye for a player especially if his scout Steve Joebury comes on board as well, if he can find players like Collins and McCombe for Altrincham promotion will be a certainty. Hope he does well, had a decent break out of the game after leaving Bradford PA so should be ready to go."

Fantastic stuff  ;D

1984 v Everton. The last manager we had who'd played in an FA Cup Final AND managed a League Club was Tommy Docherty !
