theyve shortlisted nine - and i dont think so, as if theyve already got a job - and not told their club - it could be highly embaressing for them

Unless something leaks to the press, I cannot see the club volunteering any such information. I think they would ideally like it to remain completely unknown right until the point where the new manager is unveiled.

I reckon it will be next week before that happens.

What does my head in is the amount of negative posts re. certain potential managerial applicants. I think that Sammy Mc, GH and Andy Preece (that's from the top of my head) have all been completely torn apart on this forum. Not sure this is very constructive, as one of them may very well get appointed!

You may not feel it's constructive but, as has been said on many other threads in connection with many topics, this is a forum for Alty fans and we're all entitled to our opinions.
I for one think that the appointment of any of those three (for differing reasons) would not be a step in the right direction - and actually could be a huge mistake.

Exactly, nothing nasty's been written, just different thoughts on whether or not they'll be suitable as Alty managers. In any case, its actually quite a good gauge for the board to look at the feelings of supporters towards the various candidates.

well if they do appoint preece or the cote they can hardly turn round and say "we thought it would be a popular choice with the fans so we didn't expect this negative reaction"

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, but honestly, to object to someone on the basis of an incident in the distant past involving a ball boy is just folly. I met Sammy Mc when I was a kid and can tell you that he is a decent guy.
