Yesterday was a fantastic result and one that gives us a great chance of staying up.
However, I am still a little uncomfortable with the way it was achieved. If Stu hadn't have been so fantastic for us again, we could have been so far behind by half time that the second half wouldn't have mattered. Giving sides possession so cheaply and hoping to snatch a winner at the end is not going to work every time and I genuinely believe that we are in this league on merit and should go out to give the opposition a game every time we play. Two of our best players were sat on the bench for an hour, we cannot afford to give opposing teams a cheap start like that, surely we have to give as good as we get and not let teams come onto us without fear of conceding themselves.
I feel we are not doing ourselves justice. A great win, but we cannot rely on Stu to save us every week.

The plan was not to snatch a winner at the end and rely on Stuart saving shots...give the management more credit than that.

The attacking subs were made on about 55 mins if I remember correctly.

It was an away game at a team who had lost 1 in 19 games.  To go all out attack would have been madness.

Clee was returning from injury so we don't know how fit he was and Dale may be a different player if he plays from the start.

I'm pretty sure the plan was for Twissy to hold it and stand firm against their centre halfs and that what he did most of the time.

I think Clee and Dale were not fit enough (for different reasons maybe) for 90 mins yesterday so Ken used his noddle and selected to us them as high impact last 20/30 minute players. It worked and may have to work again until they are fully match fit.

In response to ChesterAlty, perhaps we should have played the "gung ho" approach as away at Eastbourne , oh no that didn't quite work out as we lost 5-0. Simply, we did not concede for 45 mins and hence built a solid foundation on which to build in the second half when the pace of Clee and more solid / spritely Johnson were more likely to reap the rewards.

Alternativley start with the two of them, concede early and then face the uphill struggle of coming from behind.

We do people think we went and parked the bus? They didnt create many clear cut chances in the first half? I actually think both greg and robbie W have had better days than they did yesterday.The onus was on darlington to win the game so they were always going to push on,dale and nicky were used correctly IMO as impact players to let us attack them for half an hour and it worked perfectly.To try and go toe to toe with them for 90 minutes on that huge,and very heavily watered pitch would have seen us beaten.

This comes from a belief that you should play your strongest team all the time but during the first 15 mins of a game both sets of defenders are sizing the opposition up and ajusting their tactics accordingly, this they can do as they are fresh, to make the subs when we did and change the way of playing at the time when the defense has been used to a pattern for 60mins is ideal.

To me the tatics were spot on its all about getting 3 points and we did nuff said

Some people have a very poor opinion of us. Why should we be more likely to concede early if we try to make a game of it. Are we that rubbish? We have been using this tactic consistently all season and find ourselves fourth from bottom, it can't be that fantastic.

100% agree, I don't Think I've seen twiss fit all season so dale should start imo, but we scraped a win so no complaints, if Stu doesn't pull off one of his many saves I'm sure these lot would of seen our way too, let's hope we don't have to rely on Stu too much again on tuesday, its great that for once we are pointing out ways to improve after a win like that!

As I said yesterday, in my opnion the team was spot on.  Even down to dropping Baynes who has not been that brilliant I don't think.

Love to have heard it if we had started Dale and dragged him off on 55 minutes for Twiss...

Which is probably what would have happened,im happy enough for kenny to start with twiss and the bring dale on,lets see what sort of team we go with on tuesday,we dont have an abundence of forwards so kenny is using them in the best way he sees fit,and we are getting the points

Some of the posts on here are beyond belief. We won yesterday and therefore have 3 valuable points and people are STILL moaning!
Some of our fans are unbelivable absolutely unbeliveable.

I can't believe someone has managed to come on here and try to put a dampener on what was, by all accounts, probably the best team performance of the season by quite some distance.

If we had a team that was good enough to play Darlington off the park with 90 minutes of liquid football we wouldn't be in the bottom sodding four would we?
