Steve Foster? Could we have some clarifcation?
« on: January 26, 2011, 08:11:34 AM »

The Salford website seems to think that he only played for us last night for one game only as a favour?

I know the club ()rightly) aren't massive on answering rumour and stuff on here but could someone let us know if thats true?

I'd hope we would have him properly (with Salford still holidng his evo stick reg)...I think he has some promise.

We only saw a few minutes of him at the end of the game but he looked strong with good vision and a few nice through ball passes.

He does indeed look promising.

Steve will also continue to be registered to play for Salford City. His Alty squad number is 14 and he is likely to be in the squad tonight. He has hit 20 goals for City this season so far.

Reading isn't an issue for me...

I think before we have had players registered on Conference Forms (as well as Unibond forms in the past) that we did not have at the club as our player but played primarily for us ?..

I would imagine that Steve is not on a contract at Salford City (so do not have to 'loan') so we can have him on Conference Forms and that he can be registered at two clubs due to the difference in playing levels ?

I think George would be the best to answer this though as I am just waffling..

I would be surprised if he would rather turn out for Salford, than for us in the Conference ? Some clarification would be good though as who is primary club is, and who gets the choice to play him.

Of course, more waffle coming up ... It would be in Salford's interest to keep him registered with them just incase things do not work out At Altrincham for the lad and they then can have him back without anyone else snapping him up in their league ?

Yeah, I understand the dual registration thing.

It was more the "he is here for tonight and thats it" bit that made me ask the question.

I realised through mid waffle that it was you who posted mate, usual me and skimming through posts...

I don't have the answer (I never do :) ) but would 'hope' that he would rather turn out for us if he is given games now that he is registered. It would be odd to loan a player for one game and have him only to fill the bench, esp from a team below us.

As you rightly say some clarification would be good.

Did he look good when he came on ? I know hard to judge so quickly ?

A bit of digging may have answered the question that he has signed for us but can play for Salford when we aren't playing, which is a little different to what Salford seem to think?

As for how he did, he didn't have long but he was unlucky not to score and didnt look out of his depth.

I like this bit of the article:
"Altrincham FC currently lie 14th in the Blue Sqaure Conference league, three leagues above Salford City".

Ah, maybe not now.  This is from the Messenger from last night

"Though Foster has signed Conference forms, and can play for Alty when not required by Salford, he remains the Evo-stik League side's player, as things stand"

When are Salford not likely to need their top scorer, certainly not on a Saturday.

Could someone clear this up?
