Absolutely sumptuous performance in that first helf tonight. James Jones was absolutely solid, plus an absolute peach of a ball from Lewis Baines for the first goal - and the vision of Newbs to know that Regan was coming round the outside of him - and the finishing to match from a player high in confidence.
That second goal probably would have ballooned into the stands this time last year, but Regan watched it all the way to his foot and concentrated on getting it on target. I'm glad the ref wasn't fussy enough to book him for goading the away end, we know a lot of refs would. Matty Kosylo is absolutely earning his starting spot at the moment - a lot more of his touches and passes are coming off, and I stand by my belief that Kahrel Reddin is better off the bench at this stage of his development - he proved to be a handful and really helped to stretch the game at times that we really needed it. Good subs, lots of fresh legs and we ended up riding out the game as comfortably as we could have hoped. On to them lot on Saturday  |
