Well. We are trousering some decent wonga from this competition at least. Believe that?s another 15k whether we win or lose in the next round. Far more than the FA put into the Trophy pot. Our midweeks between now & the end of the season look increasingly hectic.

Other than the bit where you suggested "we're qualified unless Oldham win or Rochdale win. Regular time or penalties", sure.

Now, who wants to buy a National League Cup Final 2024/25 scarf? I've 6,000 in my garage.

Ollie Crankshaw..moments of brilliance...but probably best draw a line under this economilly disastrous signing

Yeah, I think I've inadvertently listed them in order of priority to be honest - Banks is a no brainer, Wilson we just need to be mindful of his injury record but we should give him the benefit of the doubt, similarly Justin still has a great chance to get back to his best - whereas Crankshaw has just never got started.
Justin going off holding his hamstring again is less than ideal. Wondering if we want to move on to weaver and reddin next season now. Real shame he's scary on his day and that's why he's quiet in some games

Can't knock the kid, horrible mistake but he's earning his stripes down that end in his first game big time.

We were mint, then we shut it down way too early again. Sad to see when we're looking so good.

Newby is doing CCC things at times.

I'm missing something here... we're qualified unless Oldham win or Rochdale win. Regular time or penalties.

If they both lose the last two games we're in the next round. If that isn't the case I'll need someone with a maths degree to explain why.

How terrible is it? Having to rely on other teams who also could not give a flying f**k about getting through to not get through... sh*t the bed big time last night.

Also with note to the fact Parky is on board or pro this cup. I don't know what about his sly digs about the comp or yanking lads off after 15 makes you think he respects it in any way shape or form. He's as pissed about wasted minutes in legs as any other sane person is.

I was hoping we could have shut the door on this comp forever after last night and yet here we are. I can't wait for the club to continue to devalue our main product with free tickets to mid season friendlies... It's well good to see it, from a die hard perspective.

If Oldham and Rochdale both lose then the teams they play get the points. Oldham play Man United which will put them on 12 points and Rochdale play Wolves putting Wolves on 8 points with a better goal difference than us.

No maths degree here just a bit of football knowledge
What about if Rochdale lose on pens to Wolves?

No maths degree here, and you're clearly not as knowledgeable about football either... but thanks for chiming in.

Wilmslow Alty had already explained the Rochdale losing on penalties scenario at the top of page 2 of this thread so I didn?t feel the need to reiterate that point. I assumed your reading was a bit better than your maths but there we go. What?s with all the hostility anyway?
Maybe my football knowledge wasn't so off eh?

We started poorly but didn't get punished and improved as the first half went on. Their keeper didn't look too clever for our first goal and unfortunately our keeper gifted them the equaliser, but he did make a couple of decent saves as well (the one on one when it was 0-0 and a late save from a header when it was 2-2).

Gutted Ethan Ross is out for the season though, he's been superb since he got here.

Alex Newby and Regan Linney were class again. Just a shame they were both subbed as you know we will be then defending all the way to the end. Still not convinced this holding what lead we've got tactic is working.

Justin much improved on his last showing and Eliott Osbourne very unlucky with his free kick hitting the post with the last kick. Decent away point at 7.45 though to keep the unbeaten run going,

The one major positive I take from the game is that if we did get Oldham in the play offs, we'd beat them.

Unbelievable! Wolves equalise in the 96th minute - and then win on pens! Alty go through to the knock out stages of the National League Cup. Surely it's a sign? Our name's on the trophy already ;D

Positives:

- Alex Newby's in the form of his life
- You know Regan's scored as soon as he shapes up
- Much better from Justin, he was a handful for them
- We picked up a result whilst resting the two main men
- incredible tactical booking from Jake Cooper late on ;)
- Halifax got beat
- We've somehow managed to go through to the next round of the Tinpot cup thing  ;D

Negatives:

- tough lesson for the two young lads - Olson sold by the wiliness of Norwood, and the keeper's had a shocker
- we stopped playing far too early, which is a shame because we looked dangerous whenever we went forward
- Bickerstaff really needs to give us a bit more
