I think it's Newby. Crankshaw out left, amaluzor out right. Still scary good that.

Happy for us to bring in more options for depth but if our headline signing was deeper in midfield I'd be chuffed.

I rate Newby but not in the 10 position at National League level.

Crankshaw could possibly play there but for me, we need a big signing in that position.

Also, a big signing in CM.

I've absolutely never had Haughton down as an Alty signing and tbh I'm quite surprised how often his name has been mentioned - his wage wouldn't come cheap and thankfully the management team look at the full package when it comes to player personalities etc.

Slightly further back on the pitch but I see Ryan Croasdale has stayed in the EFL with Port Vale - and Luke Young has joined up with Cheltenham. No announcement on the potential Tom Crawford signing yet, it'll be interesting to see if things start to move a bit now.

I don't know... Nick Haughton has never struck me as an Alty signing; almost a bit too 'marquee', the sort of player Oldham go in for (and promptly turn him rubbish).

He's arguably more of an 8 than a 10, but it worked well for us with Maxi... I'd be making big moves for Lewis Leigh whilst he's pondering over signing a new contract with Preston. But given he did well at Crewe I'd be surprised if there weren't League Two clubs in for him too, including Bromley given he did well there too and they went up.

One thing's clear, we'll struggle to sign like-for-like and might need more of a functional 10 to allow us to push on further from where we are.
Listening to Jordan's podcast I'm also now aware the Haughton is a sh*t trainer so that might talk to his ambitions. Also Parky even came out and said regarding Fylde paying higher wages than us.

I don't think I care if we sign a marquee signing as much as I care that our current recruitment team are involved in the search. We'll find a replacement that I have no doubt.

An honour to see him grace the famous red and white stripes.

He goes with my thanks and very best wishes.

Just smiling at the thought of the windfall we'll have surely put in place for when he wins his full Northern Ireland cap in the not too distant future. He's been a joy to watch, and we've been privileged to see his journey at an early stage

One thing is for sure, Linney will have the opportunity to appear from his shadow(yes hes a different type of player)  and show everyone what he can do, it is a big season for the guy if he harbours dreams of playing in the league.

I think that if we're going to start announcing every player that passes from now on we'll have a very stale feed for other reasons (not that these shop are open and such posts don't bore me to tears).

We have an end of year roll call to respect all our lost over the previous year.

I'm far more astounded the quiet way that lifelong volunteers of the club have missed recognition.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but we're only at the start of what will be a fast oncoming wave of lost former players as we reach the modern era and larger squads sadly losing players. Are we going to expect someone to pen a note respecting Brian Kilclines passing? What about Marc Jacobs? Lutel James? Lee Hendley maybe? What becomes the threshold for this?

This is a genuine question not just the poking of those upset by this I feel I should clarify on a subject so charged.

Would like to get Haughton too though he seems really happy at Fylde and after 6 seasons there and been continually been linked to FL clubs i do think he would only leave them for a move upwards.  Urmston born though so let's see 🤞
