Hugh to answer your specific point on test events, one of the things we will be testing will be the management of "North Entrance" and "South Entrance" for fans - the ground effectively being divided in two, each with its own capacity.  Circulation around the ground will be limited.  There are other limitations and restrictions that would be imposed as part of the reopening of stadia; some national, some applying to Greater Manchester as a whole and some specific to Trafford Borough Council.  Some of them are brand new - hence the need to test the venue

Our highest finish in the National League this millennium is 14th in 2009-10.  Which feels achievable.  Before that, 12th in 1995-6 which we could also realise.  Given the different number of clubs, games etc Leons PPG metric is worth evaluating as well.

The Crewe game was actually called off for 3 players being on international duty: Neil Lennon with Northern Ireland, and Rob Edwards and Robbie Savage with Wales

Re. Stuart Coburn v Runcorn, my recollection was that it was a freekick from our own half which bounced and aided by the wind looped over their keeper into the net. My other recollection of this game was that Stuart also saved a penalty!?

Yes he scored and saved a pen that day!

A different answer to the question posed by Cult:

I saw Barry Howard score direct from a corner for Runcorn against Peter Eales in the 1-1 draw at Canal Street on 14th November 1977.  Tony Webber on target for Alty.

Sorry about that all - it set "end of ticket sales" to last night, and I've been driving since first thing.  Just had a chance to fix it

If you look at that Tony Sanders managed team from his arrival to us reaching the pinnacle, the evolution was not dissimilar to what we are seeing today.

You had mainstays like Ivan Crossley and Mickey Brooke becoming squad players - but still playing an important role (Brookes goal at Droylsden taking us to White Hart Lane for example); you had a raising of the bar seeing upgrades from (eg) Mickey Moore to John Rogers, and a falling by the wayside of the (eg) Joe Flaherty's of this world.  You even saw the odd big name signing coming in and failing to make an impact (Tony Webber as example)

And the main thrust was strengthen the squad each year - Johnson and Webber in 76/7; Rogers, Bailey and King in 77/8; Barry Howard in 78/9; Graham Barrow and Barry Whitbread in 79/80.  And we ended up with a squad that had replaced (eg) Alan Heathcote with Graham Barrow

The arrival of Ceesay, Mooney, Senior, Colclough, Kosylo and Smith (the new Graham Barrow) is part of the same dynamic.

Coincidentally, the board is expanding to a similar size as it was in the late 70's - ambitious young dynamic business leaders (and me!)

The root cause of the demise from 80/1 onwards was that we felt we had to give the team that missed out on FL another go, and their momentum carried them to a second title.  Unfortunately they all reached the end of their career at the same time (albeit at Wembley).  We should perhaps have wielded the axe in 1980 and given new talent time to grow

I am hoping to get something out this evening but I have been laid low the last couple of days after receiving my vaccine.

Correct Leon - a Bromley player fell on him after a tackle.  He played on not having realised he had suffered the injury

Lenny Dickenson - leading scorer in 62/3 season but a mainstay of the side from 72 - 77

Johnny Worth - 8 appearances in 63/4 returned to the club for great seasons from 66-72

I won't have a bad word said about Jackie Swindells!

Got yours too :-)

It should be clear when we answer them which we have picked up on.  Nothing for me is off bounds, and if we do miss it then we will pick it up next time (looking for these to be regular)
