Altrincham FC First Team / Re: FA Cup draw
« on: October 17, 2021, 04:25:24 PM »
The FA Cup tie referred to above was against Gateshead United, and it was in the 74-5 season in the second round.  We won 3-0 and got Everton in round 3.

Gateshead United are actually South Shields in disguise.  But not the current South Shields.  They folded in 76-77.

This is actually our equal best ever start in the National League.  We matched 18 points from 9 games in 1994-95 season but we've never bettered it

Alty only had 2 away wins that debut season of the NPL; Ashington and Scarborough.  Which is why we finished midtable.  Lots of draws and single goal defeats for us on the road.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Grimsby Match Thread
« on: October 05, 2021, 05:06:22 PM »
There were many considerations in allowing Grimsby some of the pop side, not least a risk of incursions at the home end if the away end is sold out.  By giving Grimsby the scope to have more than 1500 supporters in the ground we remove the risk of that.

We have sold over 2000 tickets for this game already.  It is already our biggest Tuesday league crowd since Macclesfield in 1994-5 and I believe we can surpass that.  There are still over two hours to kick off and tickets are still selling well.

Harold - I can confirm we will be taking cash on the turnstiles for the Boreham Wood game

We will be introducing the potential for card payment on the turnstile - getting the card machines is proving challenging, like getting anything these days.

But the contactless pay on the day option will be in place very soon, if not quite for Notts County .

You can buy a ticket, it gets e-mailed to you and you then print it out.

It doesn't take too long, although probably more than 15 seconds to be fair!

I can confirm the Blyth numbers.  When we started the trial of e-tickets in the 2019-20 season, we found that we could get three times as many people through with e-tickets as we could cash payments.  Specifically around 5 a minute for cash and around 15 a minute for scanners.

Also if things get really tight we can open a gate and let people with e-tickets through en masse.

There will be dedicated turnstiles for Season Tickets; one at the Golf Road for standing fans, and one for Main and Family Stand fans at Gate 4.

Just an illustration from the Dover game.

Of the 1800 home fans, around 1000 bought tickets in in advance (including season ticket holders) and 800 paid cash on the day.

Its only a couple of seasons since 800 was all we would get.  So we handled what was a normal crowd of few years ago paying on the door and normal crowd from the following season buying in advance.

The only way we can regularly handle crowds of this size, and we want them to become the norm, is if a substantial number buy in advance.

When we brought in e-ticketing, I made it clear we would not move away from cash payments on the day.  And this remains the case - unless of course legislation intervenes to prevent this.

As many home fans as possible, and catering for all preferences in terms of them getting access.  But more and more converting to advance purchase because this makes it easier for everyone.

For home fans, there will be a pay on the day option.  Although I'd strongly recommend buying in advance, even if on the day.  Even if in fact you are in the queue to get in the ground.

Season Tickets have arrived at the club this morning from the printers in Ireland.  And will be posted out today first class post.

If you have ordered your ST in the last week or so you will be receiving an e-ticket for Dover and your card as soon as possible after that.
