Altrincham FC First Team / Training Tops
« on: October 15, 2010, 11:37:58 AM »
Bit of an odd question I know but what happens to the players training tops and other bits of kit after they are gone, do they ever find their way in to the club shop or do we give them to new players or what? Just wondering.

Altrincham FC First Team / A Rather Unimaginative Idea
« on: October 10, 2010, 10:49:35 PM »
We obviously need as much money as possible if we are to have any chance of avoiding relegation. I know this is no way near what is required but how about we as fans all try and make the effort to donate a few pounds to the online bucket collection ASAP. We could have a proper rally for it with pleas on the main site and maybe the SAM? The club needs as much money as possible. I myself will donate a tenner. I know it's hard times and all and people may not be able to but it's just a thought what do you guys think?

Just seen this on the BSP website...

Won't count on anything but I'd love to see him go there.

Also he apparently showed a shirt saying "there are some things money can't buy" when he scored past Crawley t'other day.

Altrincham FC First Team / The Squad
« on: September 26, 2010, 01:05:25 PM »
Whilst we're hardly out of the cacky yet our squad has performed quite well in our previous 2 games. So just wondering what changes we would make to the new squad?

Personally I think it's mainly about getting our boys fit through loans, matches or whatever and I'm still scared every time Joseph is anywehere near the ball so perhaps a loan right back.

Altrincham FC First Team / Graham Carr
« on: September 23, 2010, 02:10:40 PM »
Was just reading about Graham Carr, former footballer and father of Alan Carr.

Wikipedia says he played for us and won an FA Trophy medal, is this true?

Altrincham FC First Team / Need Some Help Here!
« on: September 22, 2010, 04:06:39 PM »
I'm the new collector for the Saturday Yankee. I've got all the info from Jenny and know what I'm doing...except for 1 thing.

Is there any specific night that I'm supposed to collect it? Rang the club but no answer.

Can anybody who's signed up tell me what day the collector normally comes round?

Cheers.

Altrincham FC First Team / On a Brighter Note...

Rob Williams earned his second cap for Wales Under 23s against England C last night and initiated a goal. There's a report on the OW.

Well done to Robbie.

Altrincham FC First Team / Heathcote-the pros and the cons
« on: September 11, 2010, 06:38:27 PM »
Several people still want Graham to stay so thought we should look at the pros and cons

PROS:

Long serving
Devoted to the club
Helped the club achieve way beyond its expectations in recent times
Huge knowledge of non league
Has unearthed gems in his time (Danylyk, Williams, Clee ect)

CONS:

1 point from 8 games
Seems to be devoid of passion this season
Poor disciplinary record
Seems to have little interest in developing young players
Has been in charge whilst this club has been relegated 3 times-Yes I know we got that undeserved point deduction but 2 is still pretty bad

I think Graham is a legend to the club and wish him well but he is not right for the club. When you look at the pros can any of them be applied to getting us out of this mess? Most of them just relate to his reputation in previous seasons, and if we go on that then Twiss should be banging them in. There is his knowledge of lower leagues and his ability to pluck untested players out but with this season's signings it appears he's not infallible. I can't think of one good reason he should stay to be honest.

Altrincham FC First Team / James Mccarthy
« on: August 29, 2010, 04:49:58 PM »
Been looking around on the internet (searching for Jimmy Mccarthy will get you more results) and there seems to be a lot of good stuff said about him, I'm looking forward to seeing him play. Last year Nantwich and Mossley were trying to sign him. Former Nantwich Town manager Hall said: "Jimmy has pace, great feet and is brave. He was a constant threat against us." He also turned out in a few friendlies for Crewe, scored past Nantwich and two past Burton. on their forum he seemed to have impressed.

I love this

"This idea first came about when City fans on their way to Doncaster recently met up with the Rovers Team Coach at Trowell Services on the M1 and Colin Peake their Secretary who is never backward in coming forward leapt on our coaches and offered fans the chance to come to the match against Southport at reduced rates to celebrate a date which we feel should be an annual one in the football calendar."

The fiend!

Altrincham FC First Team / Top Scorer This Season
« on: August 16, 2010, 08:54:05 PM »
Just wondering who you all think our top scorer will be this season? Also how many goals do you think they'll score?

I've gone with Damien Reeves although I still think Denham and maybe even Johnson are in with a shout.
