Altrincham FC First Team / Surprise Programme Found
« on: April 15, 2011, 03:28:51 PM »
In my attic earlier today I found a programme from 1978 FA Trophy Semi Final vs Runcorn...bizarre since I have only been a fan 3 years...

I'll probably keep it anyway but just out of interest is it at all rare?

Altrincham FC First Team / Leave Beesley and take Coly
« on: April 05, 2011, 11:40:00 PM »
to FGR. So Coly isn't the most skillful of players but he is a big bugger who gets stuck in and Beesley does nothing! HE had a great game tonight so give him a chance.

Altrincham FC First Team / Player of the Season?
« on: April 04, 2011, 10:26:46 PM »
Who would you give player of the season? There's only very few players who have been consistent IMO. I think the 7 I have put are the only real options, maybe Connors would be up there but he hasn't played nearly enough. I am going to go with Nicky Clee, always gives 100% and is superb but Rob Williams is another to give his all to the cause and also a really nice guy.

Altrincham FC First Team / Mckenna and the squad...what!?
« on: April 01, 2011, 09:41:17 AM »
As I'm sure you all have I've been hearing the rumors everywhere for the past few weeks that Mckenna and the rest of the team are set to leave for Crawley after the recent upturn in form, for the sum of 8 million, leaving us with only the supporters team to play our first team matches player managed by Graham Heathcote...Wasn't sure whether to believe it but I've just seen this news article?

Getting seriously worried.

Altrincham FC First Team / Michael Twiss
« on: March 15, 2011, 11:05:27 AM »
Is going to play a belter tonight. Really. He'll have Nicky Clee's skill at running with the ball, Reeves's finishing (on a good day) and Baynes's skill from a dead ball.

At the very least tonight he will score the winner. Yes he bloody will.

believe!

Altrincham FC First Team / Steve Foster-Erm...what!?
« on: March 10, 2011, 09:22:02 PM »
Salford City announce that "Following renewed interest from Chorley, Salford City have relunctantly agreed to release top-scorer Steve Foster so that he can continue his season with the Victory Park side... 'Fozzie' first joined Salford during the dark days of February 2009 and since then has scored 57 goals in 70 appearances for the Ammies".

Thought he was loyal to Salford? Are Chorley better than us now?  >:(

Then that'd be great. I can pay.

Cheers

Altrincham FC First Team / Gateshead Verdicts
« on: March 05, 2011, 05:34:13 PM »
SO what do we all think? I think we did okay generally and in the first half Clee and Baynes were very good. Although I didn't think he was quite as good in the second half Baynes's set pieces were threatening.

Still, I really don't think we're good enough up front. IMO Beesley and Twiss are largely anonymous and Reeves is a bit of a tap in merchant.
Didn't thnik we were great in the centre of midfield either...would love to see Danylyk get more of a go.

Also...why have only 4 subs? Might as well have put Coly or a youth player there instead of nobody.

Overall, well done boys.

Altrincham FC First Team / Either this league is a shambles...
« on: February 21, 2011, 01:42:37 PM »
or Crawley are really taking the p*ss!

According to all the fixture lists I can find they're playing simultaneous home games against both Southport and Kettering. I can only assume this is some sort of cock up by the league rather than this actually happening? What's going on?  ???

Altrincham FC First Team / New Player
« on: February 18, 2011, 03:48:18 PM »
Altrincham FC are pleased to announce the emergency loan signing, till the end of the season, of left-footed central midfielder Steven Connors (born Liverpool, 5 January 1986), from Fleetwood Town. As with all such loans, after 28 days he will be subject to recall. Steve goes into Saturday's squad and, if named in the sixteen against Kettering, will be the 36th player named in a match-day squad this season. He will also become Alty's 23rd debutant of the season.
He joined Fleetwood Town in February 2009 from Bradford Park Avenue, having previously been at Witton Albion. Steve also had a brief spell at Droyslden towards the end of last year. Described on the Fleetwood website as "combative", he has picked up three yellow cards in 2(+6) appearances for Town this season. At Moss Lane he joins former team-mate Mark Beesley from Fleetwood.

He will bear squad number 18.
