Altrincham FC First Team / Re: AGM this evening...
« on: November 22, 2017, 09:03:25 AM »

Can anyone tell me how we have allowed someone with 4% shares in the club to have so much power? To be the king maker? It's a scandal and a scandal we all allowed it to happen

We're back to that confusion between ownership and control.

Shareholders own the club.

The board of directors control and manage the club.

The shareholders elect the board of directors.
no confusion I never mentioned ownership, I said power which is control - I guess that was my point about 4% and power

You did - thats what 4% means - you own 4% of Altrincham Football Club.

My point is you could have no shares at all and still be a director with control.

Someone mentioned odds of 100-1 on Alty to win the Trophy - which bookies has this - all I can find is Betvictor and they only have odds on the teams from the national leagues?

Is it only me that finds the League’s stated policy of playing your furthest away games midweek a bit odd in an entirely part time league? Workington and Whitby away on a Tuesday night you need an understanding boss, basically knocking off at lunch.

Stated policy? Does it say this somewhere? If so how bizarre it makes no logical sense apart from tenuously accepting small gates for longer trips and better ones for shorter weekend trips. Don't get it, not good for players or fans.

From our website in august news

EVOSTIK FIXTURE POLICY

When the 2017-18 fixture list dealt Altrincham many Saturday 3pm kick-offs against local teams such as Ashton United, Stalybridge Celtic and Warrington Town, but Tuesday 7.45pm kick-offs at their two furthest opponents, Workington (294 miles return) and Whitby (268 miles return), many supporters were baffled. However, it now emerges that short-distance 3pm matches and lengthy midweek journeys are actually the policy of the EvoStik League. Writing in the Albion Review, Witton Albion (and Evostik League) chairman Mark Harris confirms the League's views on assigning fixtures.
Following Albion's own midweek game at Workington last week, Mark wrote that "I was recently asked why long-distance fixtures are played midweek. The answer is simple; to play them at weekends would mean the more local derby fixtures being played midweek instead.

"For most, if not all clubs, it is the local games that generate the most income so, coupled with the motorway traffic nightmares so often encountered at weekends, that's why it makes more sense to prioritise the local games. Of course, I'd rather take a trip like the one to Workington early in the season rather than on a freezing cold Tuesday in January!"

The explanation of why they do it made good sense - to save your local closer games for a Saturday when you've more chance of a good crowd both home and away.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: "No more infighting" says Grahame

I love the fact that an article titled 'No More Infighting' has led to even more Forum infighting. To that end he has failed already.
Spot on, divide and conquer has always been his ploy. I just don't understand why more of us can't see when we're being played

Regarding the timing, if due diligence is ongoing as we have been led to believe then these comments can only be intended to scupper any deal. Sending a clear message to potential investors that he isn't going anywhere. Again surprised more of us can't see that

If a new investor has 51% it really doesnt matter what anyone else wants - they can put whoever they choose into any position.

My sons U9 junior team played on the park pitches at Hollyhedge Park 2 weeks ago vs Wythenshaw Amatuers and I must say the standard of those pitches was superb - a credit to all involved there.

Please please please be the direcdtors from the Hut Group....although I know at least one is a Man Utd season ticket holder...

Anyway....I hope the board make a good decision and remember no deal is better than a bad deal....the new investor must be long term and interested in growing the club

I think those suggesting the Hut Group might be right - it seems logical.

They are a private company - so dont have multiple shareholders to appease - outside of that a couple of interested directors could use their own money for it.
If you were savvy - you could avoid losing money - we have no debt and have spent within our means for a long time - hence the money they put in to buy the stake will be within their control for spending it.
The potential for sponsorship and a good improvement story are there
Hale Country Club - already has a pitch at the front and back and good quality facilities that they could build upon and use.
They do seem to be active in "acquiring" things, I understand they bought the old cottage/farm at the end of Clay Lane recently.
One of the founders lived in Didsbury on founding the company so its not unreasonable to assume he lives local still.

Thanks Alty Mark - great highlights - and I thought the goalline camera angle really added some great footage and angles of the goal action.

The Aecom car park is a superb facility - I always use it, but did get my car locked in there on Tuesday night as I didnt leave the club until 11pm - luckily the person with the key (from Alty) saw me and let me out.

Most match days the Aecom car park is about full by kickoff, which must be a good 50 odd cars in there that arent parked on the streets.

I  moved to Altrincham in Dec 2006 and barely recall the Chequers club - has anyone got a link to any photos, inside & out ?

What was it like - what & when was it used ?
