There's been signs up at the turnstiles all season saying you can't take food in to the ground.

Proud to be able to say I was watching telly when he bowled THAT ball.

It seems weird now we've stopped conceding goals!

Long may it continue!

Good result today boys - sounds like the loaners are really making a difference.

Top of the shopping list for next season is quality defenders with indestructible legs.

Some real breathing space after today. Are Weymouth going to win four more games than Alty between now and the end of the season when they've only won five to date? Possible, but unlikely.

Alty need to take points of Wealstone, Weymouth, Kings Lynn. Maidenhead and Weymouth to be sure of league survival. Failure to beat Kings Lynn this weekend will show the league position is entirely justified.

the rule does need to be rewritten to make a distinction between gaining control from an accidental handball and the ball accidentally hitting the hand or arm on the way somewhere else.

it is a daft rule. it's football not netball. i dont care whether its accidental or not. if you gain the advantage after the ball hits your hand then its handball. if it hadn't hit his hand he wouldn't have got the cross in (or might have had to work harder to retrieve the opportunity. i'm still smarting from the winning goal burton scored at the pirelli after an "accidental" handball.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: LIVE STREAMING
« on: January 03, 2022, 01:52:28 PM »
Streaming meant I could watch games that I would never have gone to anyway, which was a real bonus. I think often it was sold too cheaply, but maybe during BCD clubs were seeing some income as better than none. Quality varied enormously whether that was picture quality, camera work, connection or whether the commentary was any good. Some games I had to turn the sound down it was that annoying. If I could be sure the picture and commentary quality were up to muster I'd be willing to pay the same as the gate price for the stream. I found it interesting last season that the better quality didn't necessary come from the bigger clubs. I can't remember specific examples but I suppose it's down to the abilities of the people involved and the equipment at their disposal. Alty TV was one of the better ones mainly because of the ability to show replays and additional camera angles, but picture quality for night games was always hampered by the dim floodlighting. (Off on a slight tangent I always hoped we might have bought the Northwich floodlights when they sold their ground off).

As Trevor Brooking once said, "You can't cater for your planning".

I think you can win a chocolate factory.

I don't suppose there's any danger of Trafford Council reducing business rates any time soon is there.  ::)

There should be a law that if landlords haven't let a shop after twelve months the council should be allowed to take a lease at a peppercorn rent and sublet to local businesses. I also think part of the problem in Altrincham is that some landlords would rather leave a place unlet until the market turns then they can sell the whole site for redevelopment. I'm sure that's what's happening with the old John Hawker/McDonalds corner.

Them's was the days. Streets Ahead was a husband and wife business that grasped the idea of punk before the other shops in town and you could buy some quite obscure stuff there. The shop was next to where the 263 and 264 buses terminated just where the Sainsbury's car park wall fronts onto Lloyd Street.

Syke's Records was a pretty good shop too and a much cooler place to go that Peter J, Swales. And the woman in there was the spitting image of Ann Nightingale. Of course the coolect place to buy your vinyl was Black Sedan on Oxford Road near the university in the days before they moved into the university precinct.

So were King and Senior replaced because they were tired, injured or the management team wanted to change the shape? If nothing had been changed might we have held on to the lead?
