Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Improving the website

Can we split out fixtures and results at all, going to be tedious to scroll to November decmeber etc

I can't be the only person who'd like to see the results presented in a consistent manner too - the current results are presented in the neutral [home team] - [away team] format.
I'd like to see that 2-0 means that we won, irrespective of where the game was played. Likewise 0-2 means that we lost.

I'm led to believe that Kosylo is out for some time. Jackson and Hulme both sat last night out. Where are Colclough and Baines ?
Thought I saw Colclough sat with the subs last night, a few seats along from Hulme?

One should read Samidzeh's Wikipedia entry. His off the field profile is more than a little iffy.
You make a very good point.

Cross referencing names and photos, 18 looked very much like Alex Samizadeh. I believe that he ran the show for Curzon in their 2-0 win at Moss Lane in the 18/19 season.

Unfortunately I can't seem to find Raio Alty on Google play, has anyone else found it and if so where?
It's possibly no help to you, but it does exist on the Apple App Store.

Who do we reckon?

Opening Day - (A) London
August BH Monday - (H) Oldham
Boxing Day - (H) Halifax
Christmas - Solihull / Wrexham (A)
NYD - Halifax (A)
GF / Easter - (A) Oldham Solihull
Final Day
Opening Day - I can't make it so an unappealing away game please. Yeovil maybe.
Halifax / Oldham seems to be the natural pairing for Boxing Day/NYD but I imagine that the relevant police forces, and their overtime rates, will have input on that decision.

It's worth pausing to remember that there were people within the club who would have been content to persist with Matt Doughty as manager.
Very much so, and we could be looking forwards to derbies with Broadheath Central next season.

I'd like to see the return of the golden goal instead of 30 extra minutes.
Wasn't that experiment abandoned because it led to negative outcomes - teams were reluctant to be caught out on the break and risk conceding, so the golden goal period became a bit of a defensive bore-fest?

PSF away at Alton Royale in the early 90s. Never heard of them before or after, and no idea why we played them. It was somewhere around Birmingham I recall.

Of course, the actual answer to the question isn’t even a defeat. The worst result in our history, that will send a shudder through all Alty fans old enough, is the 3-3 draw away at Slough in 1991 that shut the door on our promotion dream.

I’ve never been so heartbroken after an Alty result before or since.

I recall the build up to their injury time corner while we were leading 3-2, the late great John Murray turned round to face away from the pitch and shook his head before it was taken - we all knew what was coming.
That was the only one of our six visits there that we didn't win too. Given our teams in the early/mid 90's (90/91 and 94/95 excepted), that's some going.
If you'd like a reminder to cheer up your day, then https://www.sloughtownfc.net/opposition/22/Altrincham is the place to look.

For sheer anti-climax, the 5-0 defeat at Kidderminster in the FA Trophy Quarter Final in 1995 takes some beating.

Did Darren Heesom get sent off that day?
He got sent off on one visit there - pretty sure it was this one. A daft handball IIRC.
To round off a great day, me and JTH had bricks thrown at us as we were heading back to the car.

Delighted for Solihull to be getting beat in ET. Classless throughout that defeat in January
And afterwards too - don't forget the painful comments on the PA about it being our cup final.

Isle of Man is a domestic flight, not sure the same would apply as per continental and international flights.
You only miss out on arrival passport control for domestic flights. All the other nonsense is still possible.

Note sure if "When we were kings" was ever a book. I recall it being a series of articles written by the Cult and published on the old website, probably 10 or more years ago?

Surprised by Thompson going
I imagine that's an entirely financial decision based on what he earns from football and his job combined. We'd have to at least match that to make it worth his while, and that's quite probably outside the boundaries that we have to work within. He'll do a job for someone else in the NLN (just not when we inevitably draw them in the FA Cup next season).
