Celebrity match at the club for £2

Not 100% sure of the circumstances surrounding this game, but I have seen the posters for this match in shop windows all over Timperley, Hale and Altrincham. It is now on the main site too.
I think this young man was in one of our junior sides and tragically died after an asthma attack at home. Think a few ex-United legends in Irwin and Robson are also playing (maybe someone can confirm).

I know things are looking grim at the moment first team wise, but if you are local to the ground and can make it, then this seems like something to turn up and support

From the main site
"Players who commit a foul to deny a goalscoring opportunity will no longer automatically be sent-off, football's rule-making body has confirmed. The previous 'triple-punishment' rule required a red card, and therefore a suspension, as well as the award of a penalty under those circumstances.

However, players committing accidental fouls that deny a goalscoring chance will now be cautioned instead. But deliberate fouls will still incur a red card. Those include holding, pulling or pushing, not playing the ball, serious foul play, violent conduct or deliberate handball in order to deny a goalscoring opportunity. The change has been ratified by the International Football Association Board (IFAB), a body made up of the four British Football Associations and FIFA, which decides on changes to the Laws of the Game.

It follows a comprehensive, eighteen-month review, led by former Premier League referee David Elleray."

Says it all really......18 months to look into something and make a decision that should have been debated and done in 30 minutes over a pint and a pork pie in the local boozer

Mr Elleray as well.........a man who prevented history being made when he denied Chesterfield their rightful place in an FA Cup Final with an outrageous poor decision

Altrincham FC First Team / Non Alty News : Witton and Vics groundshare
« on: April 15, 2016, 01:22:41 PM »
http://www.northwichguardian.co.uk/news/14412630.UPDATED__Witton_agree_new_ground_share_after_Vics_threaten_to_sue/?ref=ar

Bizarre

Looks like a case of a club with no money who decides it needs to share with his nasty neighbour to generate income

The nasty neighbour then does not pay (to nobody's surprise) and is evicted

The nasty neighbour then threatens to sue and the host has to 'cave-in' because their tenancy agreement has been written by the local primary school children

The league once again favours the nasty neighbour because they themselves have been threatened with legal action before as well

It will be interesting to see how Vics pay the rent going forward on crowds of 150 and also why Witton did not invite 1874 into the fold

Altrincham FC First Team / Josh's fantastic goal
« on: March 20, 2016, 11:45:37 AM »
Just watched the clip..........what a run and finish

He also sprinted back to defend and receive the ball in the first place

Does anybody else wonder whether or not the referee would have awarded the penalty had the Aldershot defender managed to get a hand on the ball (which I think he attempted to do as 'part of his fall') ?

Pitch looked very wet and muddy in places at FT - but thanks to those who got the game on

Thought it might not go ahead today and a decent crowd considering

Really thought second half we should have gone on to win and 3 points from four home games may leave us in trouble

Altrincham FC First Team / Non Alty - coach drivers
« on: December 08, 2015, 11:42:56 PM »
Having just seen the article about Ian Senior being a coach and also helping out by driving a club coach, it reminded me of the following piece of trivia

Which former Premier League manager also once drove the 'team' bus (but not for his PL team I must add) to away games ?

Altrincham FC First Team / Non-Alty : Macc

Nobody laughing at Macc on here................play-offs most of the season and missed out........................suppose being replaced by FGR and Eastleigh is not ideal

Altrincham FC First Team / Non Alty - Gareth Whalley

Unaware until today that he is the Manchester City U18s Assistant Manager

Went to the United v City U18 Premier League derby today at Moss Lane. Probably about 800 there to watch a game devoid of excitement. United won 1-0 from a great free kick which was probably the only shot on goal all game (although United had a great long range effort hit the upright).
Plenty of dribbling into trouble and being dispossessed, lots of turning and playing the ball backwards and stroking it around the middle for fun, but United's keeper could have sat in a deckchair and City's keeper made one save all game.

But not moaning at free entry and seeing the bar and snackbar do a bit

Maybe Stockport Alty could comment (once woken up)?
