That Southport game like others was very spine tingling but not for the obvious reasons . Standing next to the Gazelle I started a chant of 'Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough' - They did come and have a go and they were hard enough. Guess who was first out of the ground with tingling spine in tow?  I left the Gazelle standing as I made my exit. Surprisingly I found him alive and well a few days later.

Fantastic day out for me, my lad Tom and Louise. I brought my brother from Bournemouth and his lad and have to say it was one of the best away supported games ever. It was a great crowd, very vocal and even though it took us 6 hours to get down there we wouldn't have missed it for the world. WELL DONE TO ALL WHO MADE THE EFFORT!

I am taking my 2 kids, my brother and his daughter to the Weymouth game. I wouldn't bother travelling all that way unless I thought we had a dam good chance of staying up. The whole weekend will probably cost me £250 and I know the players will give it 100% for all of us. If you are thinking 'Is it worth it', remember this. If we pull it off and you weren't there you will regret it for ever. Think of the dancing in the streets around Weymouth and you can be part of it. I will have my customary blue away shirt on and my lad will have his home shirt on with 'Scotson 11' on the back. We will be there - WILL YOU ?

My lad Tom was coached during the week by Colin Little and said it was one of the best experiences of his life ! It was his birthday yesterday and his main present was an Alty home shirt with his name on the back. Over Christmas he was offered tickets to see United v Birmingham at Old Trafford but wanted to go to the Northwich v Alty game instead. Now that's what I call dedication to the cause.

Altrincham FC First Team / Ashley Timms Arrested
« on: April 08, 2008, 01:35:48 PM »
Anyone remember Ashley Timms? he has been arrested for blackmailing 'an un identified footballer' to the tune of £15000 according to the BBC. Last seen playing for the mighty Cambridge City. Perhaps he may fancy blackmailing a few of the Burton players prior to tonights game !

Don't know but GH's behaviour last night was even more bizare than usual. He had a very heated argument with the ref at half time and the ref then pointed to the stand. What was that all about ? We deserved to be loosing 4-0 by half time so no complaints there. Then he had a right ding dong with an Alty member of staff during second half. Was that his son ? I thought they were going to come to blows until Graham Barrow stepped in. Calm down Graham. Your behaviour distracts everyone from the football.

How about bringing this to a close ? GH shouldn't have turned his back on the game to argue but I have no doubt that he will get us out of the S***.He is passionate, just look at his reaction after the Vics away game and if we keep positive so will he. Keep venting your opinions at home and away but lets keep them constructive.

I was sat in the thick of all this and all that was shouted at the players was'Spread Out'.To turn your back on the game and have a rant at someone who supports the team, week in week out was wrong. To say that sitting down in the main stand you don't understand football is a load of tosh. I have been in the Golf Road since 1975 and have become a Dad who takes his son and his friends to matches and now prefer to sit down. Graham must learn to ignore happy/grumpy old men (depending on performance) as this is not the first time that tyhis has happened.

Me and my lad having suffered all those wet and windy away days with Alty have our moment of fame in the Observer at last !

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Photo From The 70's - can Anyone Help ?
« on: October 17, 2007, 09:49:45 AM »
I think hsmith1 may be spot on as to location. I have infront of me the programme from the Runcorn v Altrincham FA Trophy Semi Final (second leg) at Canal Street dated Saturday 8th April 1978. How did hsmith1 suspect it was Runcorn ? One of the players mentioned in the programme is one Graham Heathcote which describes him as :- A midfield player who rejoined the club after a short spell with Northwich Victoria. Graduated through the Altrincham Youth Team.  think the baby faced lad to the bottom right of my scarf is John Garbutt but the rest remain a mystery.

The attached Photo shows myself amoungst a rum group of Alty supporters in the mid to late 70's. I am holding up the striped scarf below the Union Jack. Are any of you on this photo and if so where was it taken ? I have a feeling it was published in the old Altrincham Guardian. Can anyone help ?

Looie ' The Gazelle' caroll runs a pub in Wales. I last saw him at this seasons 1-1 draw away to Stafford Rangers. Still large, sweaty and rude as ever!

I have never posted before but feel I need to vent my spleen. Last season I let rip at Graham during the Dagenham game when we lost 5-0. He replied by giving me my enterance fee back. Geoff Goodwin came and put me right as to how far the club has actually come during the last few years and having got home reflected on his comments. The start to the season has been bad but to those who want to replace Heathcote, I say to them; who with ? The same restricted budget will be in place and what is the point of throwing the baby out with the bath water ? Yes the position we are in is bad. Be patient. We have played some of the top teams so far with poor results but the away games against Stafford and Halifax which I went to were excellent results as well as York. keep the faith and be patient.
