I thought we had about 400 there and I thought there were enough seats in the allocated section.
The problem was caused by the large number of Alty fans that choose to stand up in a seated area. This would be fine if everyone stands up, but it doesnt work when only some wish to sit and there are also children present that cannot see. What happens is that the children stand on the seats and risk being knocked off, particularly if we score. Some seats were actually already broken.  If I am on my own I personally prefer to stand. I also cannot fathom out why the stewards would not open the empty seats behind the goal next to us. I think this is a different issue to what we use to have at Rushden, a similar type of ground, but we only took about 120 and most stood up at the back of the stand so didnt obstruct those wanting to use the seats for what they are designed for.

As for those on this forum having a pop at Chester's fans. I thought they were excellent yesterday. They were very pleasant and friendly. Let us into their club even though we were decked in away team colours. I had a good, friendly and interesting chat with their fans. I dont recall any offensive chanting towords us inside the ground. Afterwards they had the decency to congratuate us on a fine performance claiming we are the best side they have played this season.

Don't agree re seating as I think there was plenty of room for those that wanted to stand to stand if Chester had prepared properly.

Do agree re Chester fans. I too thought they were a very friendly bunch in the bar and I for one say good luck to them.

I'm thinking a draw would be best too. Probably flawed logic but a draw means the total points won is 2 rather than 3 if one team wins and that's got to be good for us hasn't it?

It shouldn't matter if the ref can get here or not. There are plenty of refs whose game have already been called off at least one of them would be able to get here.

It's this sort of thing that sets us apart from the rest at our level. Well done to all involved on a well thought out initiative, my bid will be going in very soon.

I think for the average Alty fan we find ourselves in a strange position. Most fans favour stability and don't want to see constant changes of management but at the same time I don't think any of us think we are moving forward at the moment.

We seem to be going through cycles of looking a good side with good football to watch and then very poor quality football often against poor opposition.

I don't pretend to know what the answer is but I can't see how a change of management at this stage of the season would help our cause. Surely the time to make the big decisions is in the summer, if a knee jerk reaction was made now then we will end up with whoever is available not the best man for the job.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: They're here...Boston Highlights Up
« on: January 31, 2013, 01:21:53 PM »
The complete performance. Oh and not wishing to labour the point but just to remind everyone, the red card incident also saw Nicky Clee booked and a free-kick to Boston. Magnificent interpretation of the rules. Uber lamentable.

The video shows the ref was spot on. Clear red card for raising hands. The first foul was by Brooke hence a free kick to Boston. The yellow for Nicky was maybe harsh but there's no denying he got involved in the pushing and shoving, it could be argued that Brooke could also have had a booking. Thought the ref had a very good game.

Excellent highlights, thanks to the magnificent Alty TV.

For me the sending off was very harsh. Reeves would have been near the goal line by the time he would have picked up the ball and there was a covering defender. Game is all about opinions though so fair enough if you disagree

Chumbawumba could make a song about ADT.

He follows stalybridge, he follows droylsden, he follows the hyde team, he follows ashton. He supports the teams that remind him if the good times, he supports the teams that remind him of the bad times. Oh ADT ADT ADT.

I hate Droylsden more than I hate you.

That hurts

A 1-0 away win is my favourite result. Well done Lee and the boys and all those that made the trip.

We played really well yesterday but didn't show the required composure in front of goal. We were unlucky to lose but the weeks are passing us by and it feels as if the play off challenge is fading already. It's getting so frustrating because we have decent players but I agree with other posters that Duncan really has to start at home and I'm at a loss to explain why he didn't.

On the whole Ifeel Lee is doing fine, he will find a way to improve our home form, but I sometimes find our fans a little over-critical of him on occasions, when I feel it is more down to the players. see what happens the rest of the season, but lets give him the chance. The club is now on a stable footing, new players have come in like Scott Leather, who shows promise for the future, especially for his age. Also our finances are better thanks to Lees guidance in the FA Cup. we can build on our season starting at home this weekend. Other players such as Ryan Brooke and Danny Mitchley will improve given the chances.

Good post that Steve. I suspect there's a lot of fans that share your view.

Great game of football. We played some amazing football in the first half and showed character when they came back to 2-2. Well done all the players, management and fans. Hopefully we can finish the job in the reply but either way a day to be proud of being Alty.
