Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Some Alty Fans at Curzon

On a scale from 1-10 where 1 is Neil Young and 10 is Tony Sanders, Sinnott was at best a 6.

Its all about opinions. I'd probably put him at 7 and say that's pretty good. I never understood why a small number of fans took against him right from the start maybe it was his lack of personality.

Hi there,

I’m the guy behind the article yesterday on jactal Wordpress.

Just thought I’d clear some bits up.

I was sat in the main standout beside the dug-out at Curzon. Right after the match, I thought I heard the crowd quiet loudly chant ‘Doughty Stay’ as he was walking over to them applauding.
Several people who were in the crowd have wrote on this forum said that this wasn’t true – or at least they didn’t hear it, and so for that I will take back what I wrote, and say ‘yes’ an error on my part.

I would never make stuff up, though – that I do take issue with.

Everything else that people have  said about article on the forum, I don’t have a problem with. You are, of course, well in your right to say it.

My point re: ‘Doughty to stay is down to a couple of elements.

Firstly, a sixth roll of the dice would do more harm than good considering the team have finally started picking points here and there. However little that may be.

Secondly, I think MD has brought the players together, got them working hard. That’s not to say I think MD could take you back to NL, but, for now, he’s a core of stability, and that’s very important in the current climate of Altrincham.

Thirdly, and most pivotally, if MD goes, would you really trust GR to find a suitable replacement? He’s tried five times before and look at the mess it’s got the club in. If you trust his judgement then fine, but if you don’t, I’d ask why you would MD out, in order for GR to source another one?

Best,

Jacque

GR appointed Sinnot and that was a very good appointment. We would be playing national league football this season if he hadn't left when he did

Grahame Rowley is just as bad as Jim Rushe and Mike Connett. He's using the football club as his own little play thing and it's ruining the good name of Altrincham Football Club.

I see the situation as very different to Rushe and Connett. For a start he doesn't have overall control of the club. Even ignoring the drug dealing, under both Connett and Rushe, vics treated fans, suppliers, cup opponents etc very badly and tarnished their clubs name probably irretrievably. Regardless of your opinion of how our club is being run it is not comparable to vics.

Why would Graham Rowley go? As I understand it, he is the second largest shareholder and the one shareholder with a larger stake has no desire to be on the board. For Graham to go presumably someone would need to offer a sensible price for his shares and possibly some from other shareholders to give them sufficient control of the club. I would expect too that Graham and other major shareholders would only sell to someone who could give a commitment of significant investment in the club over and above the cost of the shares they would be buying. Until such time as someone appears with such an investment the majority shareholder (ignoring the one that doesn't want to run the club) will quite rightly continue to run the business. I guess the only way this would change is if Geoff Goodwin lost faith in Graham's ability to run the club and decided to rejoin the board himself. I don't see that happening.

What he fails to say is that he planned to walk later the same week but wanted to wait if he got sacked so he could get a payout

@SamElliott_NLP

Here the chap on twitter who wrote the article, I am asking him is his article not slander without any evidence?

Sam.elliott@greenwayspublishing.co.uk

Stop looking for someone to blame. Journo just doing his job. Bet he couldn't get that article typed up quick enough.

In fairness, he's quoting the chairman of a  football club. He should expect to be able to take his word at face value here.

It's not the journalism I find staggering to be honest.
folks, I have tonight been in conversation with Sam Ashton who wrote the artical

To be honest he didn't have a great deal to say - but he did assure me that 100% every word in it came from our chairman. He didnt feel the need to confirm anything with Neil Young, if there is any slander well it's our chairman's words

We can't know for sure if what the Chairman said to the journalist is true or not. We do know that what you said to the journalist was untrue though "Mr Rowley has lost the support of 100%".

I do wonder (and this is complete speculation) if Lawrie was waiting to see if Rankine was staying or not before making his own decision.

Great news, Reeves and Lawrie have always been successful when played together in the middle.

"Or I fear that forum could get very ugly". Ha ha ha like anyone gives a toss what the five remaining posters on here have to say!

Having given it some thought I've come to the opinion that it's probably a sensible move in the circumstances. I wish them the best of luck and am right behind them.

I expect this is just a smokescreen. Getting the excuses in early in case our players are looking for a gig at Eastleigh again.

442 again should see us well beaten - hope I'm wrong. Still got the worst two wingers in our history, so God knows where the strikers are going to get their goals from - again hope I'm wrong. Glad to see Simon back in the middle though. Agree with Romeo that Reevesy always seems to come back stronger after a break. Let's see...

Worst two wingers in our history? Who would that be we've only got two wingers in the squad and neither of them in a he fist xi today. Also surely there isn't a player worse than Smikle in the current squad.

Going to really struggle this season sinner snr just doesn't really have a clue time for change

Ha ha ha time for a change after two games? I reckon he must have a bit of a clue, he got us back in the conference and then kept us here comfortably last season.

I think this has been a disappointing pre season.....poor results against the lower sides does not bode well for a turn round in our cup and trophy jinxes....

I had high hopes for our new giant in midfield as he sounded the sort of chap to give us that bit more muscle but he's not mentioned in our best starting XI.

Rankine I think is an excellent signing but we needed two or three excellent signings and he only replaces Kyle Perry although I think we may get a little more consistency from him.

Its the same defence no cover for left or right back apart from scott leather and the best midfield is turning into the same old argument who plays on the right and I can see that position being shared again between james lawrie (better just behind a front two) simon richman and Jordan sinnot.....and when nicky clee is out we'll see james lawrie struggling out there again.

And what worries me is Lee's track record in bringing anyone in once the season has started is dire...he just shuffles the pack desperately.

I don't think what we've bought in is better than what we released....and I think the league is going to be harder this year...other clubs are having impressive reults against young premiership sides and smashing the weaker goal practice sides......

Now I've been so negative we'll probably pi&& this tinpot league.....
Clearly a wind up, the season hasn't started yet!

If Jordan Sinnott ever starts over a fit Clee I will rip my season ticket up

Be careful now. I remember a member of this forum solemnly pledging never to attend another game while Sinnot is in charge (around 2 1/2 years ago). Of course he was full of sh*t and missed only a game or two! Lucky for him he didn't have the courage of his convictions or would have missed the excitement of the play off win!
