In that case Mr Jacobs, as you are so unimpressed by my officiating prowess I shall return to the League Referees Secretary my forthcoming Bricklayers Arms fixture and advise him that you are deputising for me :-X

Gary,

As there is a probability that I'll be reffing at least a third of the match I think that you ought to play so that we can reminisce over old times at Crossford Bridge  :-X

I'm sorry for impugning the reputation of those fine upstanding folk of Crawley Town by irresponsibly, and with no evidence whatsover associating them with the evil trade which is Fried Chicken Emporia. Please Peake me immediately :'( :'(

Ta for clearing that up, perhaps the fried chicken emporia are just a disguise for the real businesses :o

I assume that by wraps and poppers you are referring to a Fried Chicken Emporium :-\

Particularly when it was you in charge of the training ;D ;D ;D :D :D

Indeed Mr Cult you are a cheeky bugger

What I'd like to know though is how you got footage of our training session for the NVQ. Please note that we only drop away team players

Denis is the one who stands by the fence and when he gets excited he 'dances'

He is quite often to be found in the vicinity of a Steward (or vice versa) located there to attempt to calm his excesses

I think his main claims to fame are firstly his totally irrational loathing of Jason Gallagher which he espoused on a very regular basis and his once having clouted a Gateshead full back with his umbrella

David, as Parkin Baker so eloquently described can be seen patrolling the rear of the terracing muttering 'I don't like this! I don't like it at all' 'They're going to score you know' and many other such encouraging phrases

It's generally about the Referee's pre match instructions.

Some Refs tell you to Referee your quarter, if you see a foul give it. Others say for you to follow them. One retired Referee of a public school persuasion had the following as part of his pre match (when referring to throw ins) If the ball goes out of play on your line put your flag up and I'll tell you which way to point so follow me.

There seems at the level above the Parks to be a big thing at present about credibility hence increasing numbers of Ref's wanting you to follow them into a decision.

Myself I follow the first school of thought, my Assistant is a qualified Ref so why should I dictate to him or her what he or she has seen.

Just my view but Nicky Daws made his first team debut at sixteen and when he left us he'd played about 3/4 of his last season at no more than 70 - 75% of his capacity and was still head, shoulders, chest, in fact everything from the waist upwards above anybody else playing at the time.

What turned out not to be quite so lucrative a move for either Alty or Nick really wasn't his fault. he was an absolute hero at Bury, not missing a match for years.

I just wonder what a Nicky Daws in his pomp would generate the Club in transfer money now.

Apologies for the nostalgic ramblings folks  ??? ???

So how would either or both stand in comparison to Nicky Daws?
