Altrincham FC First Team / Throwing stuff on the pitch
« on: March 04, 2019, 07:58:08 PM »
Couldn't make the game but just watched the highlights.
Why on earth the team are 2 nil up and when the third goes in that someone behind the goal throws a bottle on the pitch?
That sort of thing could get the club fined.

Altrincham FC First Team / From the Board
« on: September 19, 2018, 09:32:13 PM »
https://www.altrinchamfc.com/news/an-update-from-the-board

One of the areas that we as a board have been keen to rectify is our communication to the fans and following Bill’s update on the work we are undertaking to understand what it would take to transition the club to full-time football, it is now my turn to provide an update from the board.

My particular focus over the summer and in the first weeks of the season has been two-fold – one of which being the new website, and the second being on the football side of things working closely with Phil and the team.

I’d like to thank everybody for their patience with regards to the new website. The biggest challenge has naturally been replacing John Laidlar in terms of pure content given the magnificent job he did. That was never going to be easy and rather than just an individual playing the webmaster role, there are various contributors now. While the content has yet to reach the levels provided by John and it may take a bit more time to get used to navigating a new website, it does offer us a better way to showcase the fantastic work that our media team, Alty TV and our excellent photographers are producing.

There is still some way to go to get it to where we would like it to be but it is getting there. The most frequent bit of feedback I have received is that the text runs off the page in some instances. This is likely a browser issue (Internet Explorer) and I would recommend using Google Chrome or Firefox. I won’t bore you with any other technical stuff!

The main reason behind the new website is to start providing current and potential sponsors with greater exposure and to start generating digital revenue streams. Whether it is to aid the quest to go full-time or just to enable us to provide greater resources to Phil and the team, that has to be done.

On the football side, we’ve worked hard to improving the infrastructure to support the players and coaching staff. The Juniors have kindly moved some of their sessions around to enable the team to train at Manchester Health Academy which is an upgrade both in quality and geographical location for the team.

We have managed to strike a deal with an industry leading data provider (Stats LLC formerly ProZone) to produce statistics on both home and away matches. Last season we only had Alty TV video for home matches but there is a league-wide partnership and agreement among the teams to provide video on all matches so that has been a good addition.

You may have noticed some of the players wearing some bizarre looking vests at our matches. We have a partnership for the first time this season with Catapult for 30 vests which have GPS tracking to monitor the fitness of all the players. The key benefit here has been for the medical staff who can monitor the fitness of players recovering from injury to know the levels of fitness they need to get back to before being considered for selection again.

Naturally, none of these new factors will necessarily see us win the next match, but they should help to prepare the team and give them an edge – however small that may be.

In terms of injuries sustained this season, we’ve been somewhat unfortunate so far with some of them like Jordan’s eye problem, Connor damaging his wrist and then illnesses to Andy White and Owen Dale. Hopefully we will have a bit more luck on that front and on the pitch in the coming weeks and months.

We do plan on making these updates from the board on a more regular basis and we will be kicking off the newsletter shortly with more details of everything that is going on at the club. Until then, if you see me at the ground at any point and have any questions, don’t hesitate to grab me and I’ll be happy to answer them.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the game on Saturday.

Rob

Altrincham FC First Team / ALTY APPOINT A NEW ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
« on: July 13, 2017, 07:44:01 PM »
Press and Media Officer John Edwards writes, "Altrincham are delighted to announce a significant boardroom appointment after former UEFA data specialist Rob Esteva accepted an invitation to become an associate director.
Based in Hale, Rob is founder, owner and managing director of The Stats Zone and has been working closely with Alty bosses since offering his services voluntarily and placing his company's extensive database and resources at the club's disposal just over four months ago.

Mindful that Rob's area of expertise can prove crucial in not only identifying transfer targets but getting the best out of them in their time at The J.Davidson, manager Phil Parkinson and his coaching staff have already forged a close working relationship with him.

Reflecting on his elevation to board member, Rob said, 'I’m delighted to join the Altrincham board as an associate director. My main responsibilities will be on the football side, and I’m just looking forward to working with Phil and getting the season under way.

'Since offering my services after the strategic review evening at the end of February, I’ve been working closely with various people at the club to set up an infrastructure that will benefit us over the long term. That said, when the fixtures came out today and the reality of having over 40% of the season’s schedule crammed in before the end of October, we’re all aware of the need for a positive start.

'This season, we’ll be analysing our own matches with video analysis, analysing every opponent prior to playing them and scouting potential recruits at the same time. Phil and his team have been very receptive to such information and data, and I’m confident it will pay off over the season. I've been to a few training sessions and the friendly against Stockport on Tuesday night, and I think there are encouraging signs. Phil has a clear idea of how he wants his team to play, and pre-season plans are developing nicely so that we’re as well prepared as possible for Stafford on August 12th.'"

Altrincham FC First Team / SUPPORTERS' LIAISON OFFICER

From Main website.

SUPPORTERS' LIAISON OFFICER

Altrincham FC announces...
"As part of the 5 year Strategic Plan, presented to the fans in February, the board promised look at additional measures that can be taken to improve and strengthen the club’s communication with its fans. With this in mind the football club are pleased to announce that they are now looking to recruit a volunteer Supporters’ Liaison Officer (SLO) to act a bridge between the football club supporters and the board.

The role, which is backed by a UEFA initiative, is designed to ensure that fans have a dedicated point of contact and it is hoped that this will be someone who will represent the needs of fans within the club, and ensure that the most common issues are raised at the highest level within Altrincham FC.

Director Bill Waterson says 'The board believe that a SLO can help establish real, constructive dialogue between the supporters and the football club, and give fans a further vehicle by which they can put their thoughts and views forward on any subject they wish.'

The role of an SLO is not just about what happens at the games, or at the J Davidson Stadium, and therefore it would also incorporate non-match day responsibilities on supporter issues. A full job description (MS Word document) can be found here, but a summary of duties includes:

Provide supporters with a link into the club, allowing fans to put their thoughts and views forward on any subject
Gather feedback (formally and informally) from supporters, identify key issues and opportunities and communicate these to the club
Communicate key information to supporters and other stakeholders (through a variety of media, but including face-to-face meetings if required)
Applications are open from all fans and the successful applicant will be considered independent in the role, but with full and proper support from the club.

To register your interest in the role, please contact Brian Flynn. Applications will be considered until Saturday July 22nd, with an announcement following soon after".

Altrincham FC First Team / New Manager for next season
« on: April 23, 2017, 05:05:26 PM »
MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD ABOUT MATT AND ROBBIE

Altrincham FC Press & Media Officer, John Edwards, writes...
"After due consideration, the Board of Altrincham Football Club have concluded a fresh start is required for next season and decided, therefore, not to retain Matt Doughty and Robbie Lawton as manager and assistant-manager.

Both Matt and Robbie have been made aware of the decision, and the club thanks them for their efforts after they were appointed in exceptionally difficult circumstances, initially in a caretaker capacity at the start of December, then for the rest of the season at the turn of the year.

While performances showed a marked improvement, results unfortunately failed to keep pace, and it was felt the prudent course of action would be to seek a more experienced manager to provide stability and know-how for what will be one of the most critical seasons in the club's history.

It was a decision that was not taken lightly, given the way Matt and Robbie replicated the same drive and determination they always showed as Altrincham players, but there was general consent among the board that next season was too important for anything to be left to chance and that a candidate with a record of success was needed to spearhead a push for promotion.

The process of identifying and installing that candidate is well advanced, and the club hope to be in a position to announce an appointment in the next few days. In the meantime, everyone at The J.Davidson Stadium wishes Matt and Robbie all the very best in their future careers".
