I remember Eric Shreeve too although I was probably only 10 or 11. Seem to remember his forte was the headed flick on from near post corners.

I have an acquaintance who is a Dartford fan. He would have Dinanga back in a heartbeat, they loved him there, whether it is levels, confidence or players around him I’m not sure.

Hi SW.  I saw Dave Furnival play!  Wasn’t he a Les Rigby signing?

I can’t remember USA it was a long time ago. I felt it was before Rigby but I’ve never been good at matching time and events past. He was terrible though no doubt about that.

Or Peter Frankish.

How many on here saw Dave Furnival play?

Sorry thought you meant in a single cup match, so the Trophy. Most recent silverware probably the NPL Champions Trophy in 2018 but I think you might get some sort of trophy for winning the play offs?

What, any cup?

I think getting a decent striker/forward is more important than worrying about the Trophy

The potential financial benefits to be gained from progressing in the Trophy would strengthen our power in the transfer market.

While I think Trophy success is long overdue and a realistic target this season, the money received for winning a tie (at home anyway) just provides compensation for the half gate receipts we have to give to the opponents.

Rugby doesn’t suit small grounds with low hemmed in stands for obvious reasons. Sale still have Heywood Road which could be developed but as far as I know the Sharks club are fine in Barton.

Very poorly organised there, unbelievably no toilets or food facilities in the away end and you have to gain access through the home stand to use toilets in the clubhouse where there were huge queues. Not sure that is really acceptable in a segregated ground in the National League
Stewards however   Nwere friendly and helpful which is a change from some of the southern grounds we visit.

Of course for those of us of a certain age Alvechurch v Oxford City went to five replays in the FA Cup before getting a result. No penalties back then.

As a teenage Alty fan back then it was rather helpful that both Doncaster and Rotherham fans sided with Alty and protected our outnumbered group from the Scarborough contingent. There was a lot of trouble during that protracted encounter.

Very sad news, as someone of a certain age I seem to be saying goodbye to childhood heroes so regularly as well unfortunately as some of my own generation.

I’d love to see more of Everton away in 74, not just the goal. Although I was there as an 11 year old I remember little of it. John Hughes still looks yards offside every time I see the goal but the coverage doesn’t show the pass.
