This from the BBC;

Chester City facing threat of closure

Chester City face the prospect of not being allowed to start the new season after having their licence application refused by the Football Association. City went into administration in May, following their second demotion from the Football League in nine years. The Blue Square Premier club were then bought back by their former chairman Stephen Vaughan. But BBC Sport understands that the FA has concerns over the set-up of Vaughan's new company. The FA's governance department has been in touch with the club to advise that they they are not currently an affiliated club, which means means they are unable to fulfil their arranged friendlies for this summer.

Ive just noticed that my 1701 posts came at an average of 1.701 per day. This must mean the site has just passed 1000 days in its current format!

To those impressive technocrats who set this forum up and who moderate it: Thanks - you've made a (not so very) old man very happy!  :D

And on behalf of all you other Alty nuts out there, I'd like to send a vote of thanks to those who have made it possible for us to feed our habit on here.

Just signed a new 3 year contract for Rotherham on their coaching staff.

No wonder they've got a cracking midfield!

Altrincham FC First Team / Hello from Anaxos, Lesvos!
« on: May 31, 2009, 04:38:07 PM »
Hi All,

Lasted over a week on my holidays before needing my fix from this place - that must be a new record  :D

Actually, that's not strictly true - Ive only just found the internet place and they're charging 5 euros per half hour so I won't be on here much next week either as that equates to a couple of litres of Mythos.

Just to say it's great to see the backbone of next season's side now in place and, with a couple of astute signings on the part of GH over the next three or four weeks, we should be set fair for another good year in the BSP.

So, all in all, a pretty pointless post from myself and Mrs S then.

Tatta for now and back to the pool with all the other drunken pensioners!

Come on you Supers

Whenever I get fed up, I always have a look at PortChat.

To say that the Southport posters on that forum are hypercritical and go off the deep end would be an understatement. It really brings it home to me what a 'together' bunch we are on here (generally).

Having said that, I do like a bit of in-fighting on other teams forums - I imagine quite a few of us do

Six go, leaving Vics short on numbers

1:19pm Monday 23rd February 2009

By Andrew Simpson »

HALF a dozen players have asked to follow Steve King out of the exit door at the Marston’s Arena. The six – Jay Conroy, Dean Lodge, Dean McDonald, Owen Price, Steve Robinson and Stuart Robinson – are all likely to have their wish granted. None will face Kettering tomorrow, Tuesday.
Steve Robinson and Lodge are under contract, leaving them to negotiate their impending departures with owner Jim Rushe.
Rushe, who doubles up as manager of Cheshire League Division One title chasers Woodley, is likely to be on the bench for the visit of the Poppies. *

+Assume that means he will be managing the side?

Altrincham FC First Team / More fun at Vics ...

There's a rumour going round that there have been three bid for the ground and that one of the other two may be from ... Connett(!) which is why he is still there sticking it out and denying them access. They believe if he pulls off a deal he'd demolish the ground and would use the land for industrial use.

Rumours are rife, but I can't believe that this could happen - there again I don't see where Rushe could get 1.5M when he can't afford the wages.

Stranger and stranger!  ???

Wonder if he and his moneyed relation will take over ailing Weymouth whose team have put the club on 14 days notice to either pay them or release them?

There's a rumour going on Confguide that with major sponsors having pulled out, the players are being made to take a 50% wage cut. Anyone else come across this or know any more about it?
