now there is a story about donny and also the nexxt home match against who?
god we behaved like pratts but it was fun at the time

to this day the most relieved i have ever felt was when those really hard looking doncaster fans said 'we're supporting you tonight, we hate scarboro'.

who did we play next

that may be one of the reasons that the exeter messageboards are full of congratulations and goodwill from all over

i occasionally work with a lewes fan so i asked him how he felt about his clubs attitude etc
the only thing that bothered him was that bsp meant he couldnt watch the game with a pint of harveys in his hand
its called getting your priorities right apparently

yeah i just spent half an hour looking back through the various teams who have made up the alliance/gola/conference/bsp
its amazing how many came up, had a couple of good seasons and went again. barnet always at the bottom, dagenham too. yeovil being relegated.
over the time it seems us and vics have the most time in

Trouble is we'll never know - although I think Wimbledon got promotion from Div 4 with many of their Southern League team still playing part time.

certainly it had reached a point where beating 4th and 3rd division clubs wasnt considered surprising any more. whether they could have done it over the course of a season is another matter. i think you would have to take into account that the fitness levels of pro's in those days were nothing like as high as they are now.

Knutsford Alty, the summers of 1980 and 1981 still live in the memory. I'm happy to be called "stuffy" and "lucky" rather than "devastated" and "cheated" like we were then. In my eyes if we get reprieved for the next 10 years it still won't be compensation for us not being able to see how far we could've gone as a FL club. If fans of the very clubs who denied us that opportunity don't like the fact we're in the same league - its even sweeter.

totally agree

i dont really know why everybody is so defensive about staying up like this. obviously it would be better to finish out of the relegation zone, but if the only reason teams have finished above you is that they have massively overspent then i dont see staying up instead of them as anything shameful

there have been a lot of rumours of financial problems at torquay, the usual promotion or bust . you would think people would learn.

Your second option was generally more our style in those days too Jezza!

yes the only rumble was likely to be that of scarpering alty fans
i never could run fast so i would get my evasion in early
fwiw i also think the ground renting has caused an overreaction, but then i'm not there
