i am going to phone the ground monday for my ticket as i am 67 but live in devon how do i give proof of age  as i need a concession ticket?
If the away turnstiles are the same as the home ones then they have barcode readers which read the ticket and open the turnstile. There is an indicator light on the inside monitored by stewards . Concession tickets trigger a different light so the stewards know if it is a full or concession ticket.
I think you would only be challenged if you don't appear to fit any of the concession criteria.

Their forum is already dismissive of us, eg "should be a turkey shoot". However, Portsmouth are rather underachieving this season, and are in the lower half of League 1. Prior to putting 4 past Southend in their most recent league outing (and there IS a turkey shoot !) they'd only scored 16 goals in 14 games. We're perfectly capable of earning a replay. I hear the sound of ringing cash registers.....
As a Pompey season ticket holder I agree 100% with this.
Pompey are not playing well this season. They lost their best two centre backs - one to long term injury, one to a premier league team - and are struggling in defence. Another CB went off injured last night and so did Tom Naylor who has been the best player in the team and captain. The reports are that they won't be out for long but if Naylor doesn't play it would be good for Alty.
They have struggled to break down teams who are solid and well-organised at the back and have been vulnerable to teams who can break quickly. Could suit Alty.

On the other hand don't expect Pompey's management to underestimate Alty. There is a lot of unrealistic expectation about everything on the fan forums. I wouldn't take much notice of anything said there.

Fratton Park is a ten minute walk from my house! Just need Pompey to do their bit. Struggling at the moment by the sound of it.

Bolton away?
They are struggling but still getting decent numbers so a chance of beating them and/or getting a decent payout.

Six foot two, eyes of blue, Gerry Casey's after you ....
I can't be sure about the first two bits but the last part was spot on. Uncompromising hardly covered it. He was an absolute rock. In the days when pretty much everyone was tough-tackling he stood out in my memory.

Very sad to hear of his passing.

Awarded to Chorley at step 2 for this season. I'm not sure quite where queuing over three quarters of an hour, and then finding one of my cheeseburgers had no cheese on it, fits in with this accolade.

I also found it weird that they uncapped the drink bottles, making it virtually impossible to carry them in your pocket. Apparently it was in case the caps were used as missiles. Of course, nobody would dream of throwing the empty bottle !

2 cheeseburgers?? Removing of bottle tops is quite common in the football league, it’s the full bottle with the top on they class as a missile, not the cap so you were misinformed by someone at Chorley.

I've seen it stated that removing bottle caps is for 'health and safety'. A bottle on the floor with a cap on will roll if stepped on but with the cap off it will more likely flatten under the foot. Might make some sense. Certainly more than anything to do with them being used as missiles.

Saw him play at Fratton Park last week. Looked very lively until he was taken off when their centre back was sent off. The only player I’ve seen really give Matt Clarke a hard time so far this season.
Hope he gets a run in their team now.

One of the relatively few games  I was actually at. Great goal and I guess it was filmed by or near a Woking fan based on the audible 'Oh, no!' as col turned their centre half inside out...

I know we've had some top strikers over the years (and have another top one playing now) but Colin Little was just so good to watch. The work 'silky' could have been made for him.

A well-earned retirement for John but a sad day for Alty fans especially those of us who can't get to many games and depend on John's updates and reports to get our Alty fix.
I hope whoever takes over manages to maintain the uniqueness of the site to some extent.
So many sites are provided via identical templates which while they may have a professional and attractive veneer are so anodyne when you start to dig beneath the surface. The Alty site is a one-off with huge amounts of useful info.

Thanks John.

I'd love one but I'm not able to get to any games. Can you mail them out? Happy to P&P obviously.

Brilliant stuff. Massive well done to the management,  players and supporters.

Hmm. If the supporters trust can get the money together to buy the club this seems to be moving in the opposite direction to what has happened at Pompey. Different circumstances as Pompey were facing going out of business when the supporters trust bought the club. A few years later it became clear that any sustained success would require the sort of investment that the trust couldn't support on it's own.
I supported the trust ownership (both philosophically and financially) and was disappointed when the club was sold but it was clear that a supporter owned club would find it difficult to more than survive in the football league in the current environment.

Great result but has to be said Hednesford were poor

Don't knock it. Beating poor teams has to be seen as progress.
