Altrincham FC First Team / New kit
« on: July 26, 2009, 12:28:11 AM »
When will the team start using the new kit?

The photos I've seen of the new kit show an all red back :

But all the photos from the friendlies so far show what looks like last year's kit :

Is the new kit being saved for the official start of the season?

Altrincham FC First Team / Draw at Burton - impact on Saturday's game
« on: April 20, 2009, 06:19:41 PM »
Up to the point we drew at Burton they had taken an average of 2.2 points per game. Since then they've only managed 1.35 points per game and so are in a position where Cambridge can catch them if they lose at Torquay who need the points to ensure they make the play-offs.

So Cambridge will be looking to win by a good margin wheras, if Burton had taken 3 point against us, they'd be up already and Cambridge would be guaranteed in the play-offs and possibly thinking about resting key players.

I'm glad we're not going into the game needing a point or three but I guess it could mean that they'll be all guns blazing and there'll be opportunities at the other end. We could do the double over them!

Altrincham FC First Team / Torquay next Saturday

I've persuaded the missus to spend part of Valentines day at Plainmoor.
I don't see any mention of away travel here or on the main site so will we be the only Alty fans there?

Altrincham FC First Team / Injuries and suspensions
« on: December 29, 2008, 10:38:50 AM »
How many fit players do we have for NYD?

In another thread someone stated that they thought Densmore had a suspension coming up too.

Any ideas?

Altrincham FC First Team / Today
« on: October 18, 2008, 06:34:17 PM »
Just got back.Very disappointed.
We were definitely second best in the first half and only really looked like competing after Johnson came on.
We were completely dominated in the midfield. Passing was poor and they pressed hard and were quicker to the second balls.

Too many times when we did get the ball the man in possesion had no options and we ended up playing a long ball in teh air which was easily dealt with.

Little and Senior may be the right combination at home but if we're going to play this way away then I think Little and Johnson are a better combination.

The run had to come to an end but I'd have hoped for a better performance. I think we made them look better than they are.

Altrincham FC First Team / Don't leave early (or arrive late)!
« on: October 11, 2008, 01:41:41 PM »
Has anyone else noticed how many of our goals have been score at the end of the halves?
Of 15 score in the BSP, 3 have been in the 44th or 45th minutes and 5 between the 84th and 95th minute.  This goes against the logic that as part-timers we should tire toward the end of the halves doesn't it?
We've also scored 2 in the first minute of a half (plus one in the 6th minute).

So don't sneak out early! The games not over till it's over!

Altrincham FC First Team / Oxford and Torquay

What's happened to these two? They were fighting for promotion last season and this season they've only managed one win each and those against teams who are likely to struggle.

Altrincham FC First Team / Part time v. Full time
« on: July 26, 2008, 05:07:10 PM »
How many BSP teams will be part-time this year apart from Alty?
I know there's been discussion of Vic training four mornings a week and still being nominally part time.
I was just wondering how many will be really part time ie with players who are holding down (or attempting hold down) another job while playing in the BSP.

So, assuming our survival in the BSP is confirmed, it looks like good news for us southern exiles but bad news for the majority of travelling Alty fans?

It now looks like relegated teams will be Halifax, Farsley, Stafford and Droylesden. Combined distance from Alty = approx 170 miles
The promoted teams will be Kettering, Barrow, Lewes and Eastbourne. Combined distance from Alty = approx 750 miles

And just so I don't get accused of wishing Halifax down before it's confirmed ... it would be even worse for them were they to survive.
