This would have been a great game for me in the nineties (or in the eighties when I lived on the south coast myself), as my uncle lived in Havant, and I used to stay over when we played Farnborough Town. In fact, his house was adjacent to their former ground at Front Lawn - they might have been Havant Town then, prior to their merger with Waterlooville - and I have seen a Sunday league game there, after they had moved out, when I stayed for a weekend and my uncle and auntie probably wanted me out of the house. Sadly, they had both died by 2001.

 I have never been inside the current ground, which they have been able to develop as it's further away from any houses, although I have seen it from outside. However we have had a meeting, sort of, with Havant and Waterlooville before, as some of us took part in a quiz competition organised by Tony Williams of Team Talk magazine and the Non-League Directory in which we were drawn against them in 2004. Unfortunately, they beat us as I couldn't remember Nuneaton Borough's colours, and a ringer in our team thought that Moss Lane was the home ground of Macclesfield Town! 

We obviously can't attend as Havant's in  tier 4 (somebody had told me Waterlooville is in tier 2, which would be funny, but, apparently is incorrect), but this must be one of the ties of the round with both clubs in good form. Boston United v Chesterfield looks interesting too, although I have to wonder how seriously Chesterfield will take it.

Yep. Waterlooville is within Havant Borough which is in Tier 4. Just up the road from me. Would have been a great draw for me at any other time.

Great stuff. Great to see the celebrations at the end. 

And (yet again) the quality is so much better than the official highlights.

I strongly recommend Millport Golf Club on the Island of Cumbrae. Nick Faldo once played the course deciding you need one leg longer than the other (or was it shorter?) and it has cracking views.

I know Cumbrae from my uni days. Visited the Marine Biological Station there a few times. Years later I visited Greenock for work a few times and stayed in Largs.

As an exile on the south coast I’d happily pay for AltyTV and have contributed in the past.
However this would be an extra expense for those already paying for to go to the games. I’d guess that there would also be an overhead in administering payments and securing access.

Maybe if this were done some way could be found to discount it to those who go to games. E.g. discount to season ticket holders.
Alternatively just ask people to donate on an honesty basis. I’m sure most of us exiles who get so much from Alty TV and RR would be happy to make a regular donation especially if it was also going to support the club.

The Lawrence is very good and that area of side streets has a lot of decent pubs. A bit further along the main road to The Sir Loin of Beef but it is a great pub, quirky, full of odd junk and usually has at least 4 decent ales on. The Phoenix is also very good. The Leopold Tavern used to be fantastic (nine non-mainstream cask ales) but the Pubco did the usual and priced the landlord out and I believe it is rather ordinary now but does have tellies for live sport.
Wouldn't recommend the spoons near Fratton Park (John Jacques) before the game, will have door staff, probably rammed with home fans.

Very sad to hear this. A fixture in the Alty team when I started watching them in the early 70s.

If you are arriving by car and come in via the Eastern Road (A2030) then The Good Companion is reasonably convenient if you can park near it. 5 mins walk to the ground. They do food and beer was ok last time I used it. Atmosphere should be ok if the Alty fans gather there. It's not a pub I would go to for any other reason.

If you are coming by train it's a bit of a trek - probably 15 mins walk from Fratton station on the the opposite side of Fratton Park. There are a few 'football pubs' on the side streets to the south of the station but they are the ones normally used by home fans. I wouldn't expect any trouble if you went there but you might get a comment or two especially if you are in red and white stripes (not a popular strip in Pompey).

I'm a local - I'll be walking to the match - but I'm in the away end and I'll be wearing my Alty shirt and would like to meet up with the travelling fans so it would good to know where people are thinking of going before the game.
