On the current live league table we are off the bottom, without Histon's points deduction.

No predictions for tonight, just hope we turn up and do it justice. After Sat, some of our lads should have had a long hard look in the mirror and be ready to get into the 2nd round...

I am still astounded by the financial situation some of these teams get themselves into. To be honest I don't care if they go bust, then our chances are improved this year.

Kiddy have asked their fans to help them raise £150K before the end of this month. £100 each from their 1500 (ish) average gate that follow them at home - which obviously includes children and at christmas time too, so the chances of that happening is pretty much NIL! Especially as they'll have to find a further £50K in January....

Histon haven't paid their players, so must be on the verge of administration.

Given that Welling were deducted 5 points and fined £5K (not sure why, when they had no money)earlier in the season, this should happen as a minimum to Histon and Kiddy. Couple this with potential administration, they could both be docked 15 points before the start of the New Year. It makes our game on Sat against Histon even more important...

Also reading on the BBC, that Mansfield can't play at Alfreton because their ground isn't up to the required standard. Not sure what they have to do to get it to standard, but one of the stands has been closed for safety reasons. Alfreton will walk the conference north this year

Absolute diatribe today. We didn't look interested (except Clee). On that performance we deserve to be in the Evo Stik league! We should have been 5-0 down before we scored.....

The loanees aren't performing. Baynes is powderpuff... Even our "better" players aren't on it - Densmore at fault for their second.

Thank god for the power cut today... It would have been a very black day for Alty.

Lets hope that Alty turn up on Tuesday....

If the game is on (and it's still touch ang go having looked at Curzon's pitch this morning*) a narrow Alty win 3 - 2

My concern is that we probably haven't trained properly for 2 weeks (i'm guessing BTH has been frozen), so our unfit players will be even more unfit (Hewson, Twiss) and the other lads will have only done gym work (off their own back) so it will be tougher than it probably should be..

* - There was still snow on the curzon pitch this morning, although it's more like slush and if my front garden is anything to go by, it should take a stud....

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Curzons ground last friday
« on: December 09, 2010, 09:10:34 AM »
I went down for a look last night on my way home, pitch still covered in a couple of inches of snow, doesn't look like any attempt has been made to clear it either.

Forecast is better today/tomorrow, but I can't see it thawing enough for the game to be on.

IF it is on, please note that the main road (near the cricket ground) where you would turn left off Lord Sheldon way is closed because of railway bridge works. There is a diversion in place which takes you up the A627 (past Ikea). Alternatively you can park in the cinema car park or Sainsbury's (but there may be wardens on that limit the stay to 2 hours in both!). Walk from there is about 5 mins to the ground.

The game will be in doubt based on the weather forecast for this week and the fact that Ashton (with the exception of the roads) is still under a couple of inches of snow/Ice. Curzons ground is still a blanket of white and temp not going to get much above freezing for the rest of this week.

Cavell Coo has gone to Mossley I believe.

Excellent draw, shame it's not at home. Ideal for me, I live 5 mins away!

Ground is new(ish), 2 sided, with a big main stand. No pubs really close to the ground although they do have a bar in the ground, not sure if it'll be open to away fans (although i'd guess it will be)

They have some good form in their league and will be a test, but we should have enough to get into the 2nd round.... I can smell a cup run.....

I'm praying we draw the lowest ranked team at home. we need all the income we can get by getting through a few rounds.

The "big" teams aren't interested in the trophy, so won't bring decent numbers with them.

We need a morale boosting cup run and who knows a bit of confidence might carry into the league games too....

What a load of rubbish. Believe me, i'm just as disappointed as you are after today's result. But, the outcome would have been the same. How can you say we would not have conceded 6? This defence (excluding Milne, who has been very steady) was heathcotes defence. We miss Smith massively when he doesn't play.

This team with the exclusion of Somner and Baynes - Was Heathcotes team! I would counter your argument and say that had McKenna who was always the motivational between him and Heathcote, not made an attempt (as we have seen in the other threads) to bring players in, that we would have had the option of Danny Holmes and Jimmy McCarthy to play today.Who would Heathcote have brought in? Could he have attracted anybody else of a decent calibre - I doubt it... If you count Heathcote as standing on the sidelines with his arms crossed, refusing to shake his own players' hands being motivational then I'll stand corrected.

We're all dejected, but KM is doing as well as he can. I would suggest that some of the players need to stand up and be counted. Defensively we are not good enough - We all know that.

Argumentative, confrontational bullsh*t like this is not needed. We've moved on. Let's concentrate on Cambridge and then the huge game against FGR rather than rake up the past and discuss how a previous manager would have approached the game!

Rant over..........

How bizarre! I was convinced he was coming to Moss Lane  :D I'm sure this is just a way of United guaranteeing that they'll get some money for him. Sign a new contract, means that somebody will have to pay big money for him in the summer....

I'm sure it'll drag on for the next 9 months...

This is an excellent loan signing. I thought he was Wrexham's best player when he played against us last year and stood out by a mile in their squad.
