Gary Lowe is clearly circling, waiting for the first club to panic.... We are not that club. I know Sinnott has had a while to get things right, but give him a little longer.... My thoughts are end of Sept, I'm sure we'll have improved by then. For me defensively we have been better, the forward unit will click and if we get 70+ goals this season we'll be there or abouts

I know we have conceded 7 in 3, we do look a better defensive unit... I'm certain we will not go 365 days without keeping a clean sheet (I hope I'm proved right...)

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Brackley Town - MATCHDAY THREAD
« on: August 18, 2012, 07:04:33 PM »
Abysmal is the only word. Pre season optimism has been dwindling since our under performance at Mossley. The aim was to concede less than last year, on todays showing we haven't improved and we now lack invention going forward.. we created 3 chances today - lawries shot,  Duncans excellent goal and Clees shot in the second half...

We started by passing the ball well, but as the game wore on (and it was nothing to do with chasing the match) we went more and more direct.

We desperately need a box to box central midfielder (I'm not sure Phelan fitted the bill) and a left back. Nicky Clee is a winger and Matt Doughty as much as I like him is not good enough (I hope he reads this and proves me wrong). Twice today he was out of position and we concede twice..

Lots of work to do, onwards and upwards...

4-2-3-1 formation

Coburn
Densmore - RB
Clee- LB
Hall - CB
Havern - CB
Rogers DM
Lacey - DM
Watmore - Right AM
Lawrie - Left AM
Phelan - central AM
Reeves CF

Change of formation, but releases Watmore and Lawrie to support Reeves and means we would have to play the ball on the deck....

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Mossley v Alty matchday thread
« on: August 01, 2012, 10:25:23 AM »
I thought this was a good workout last night. Alty looked sluggish, but I put that down to the double training sessions and team bonding over the weekend.

I liked the look of Lacey in the second half and was impressed by Rogers again, especially when he switched to centre half in the 2nd half.

Mitchley needs to do more, but has potential. Brooke looked good in the second half. Watmore is a special player, but I think tries to do a little too much at time, sometimes the easy ball is the best one.. and Damian looks miles of fitness at present, which is to be expected given his lack of football/training this summer.

I thought Mossley for their part played well, kept going and probably deserved the draw...

Hopefully we'll get another good workout on Sat against Wrexham who beat Coventry 4-1 last night !!

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Proposed Away Shirt for next season
« on: March 25, 2012, 06:07:07 PM »
Personally I don't like this shirt and I wouldn't buy it. I understand there are limited colours, but I would ask if this is already a done deal? If it is I can't see huge numbers selling, why not provide 5 different options and do a bit of market research first. I'm sure if you spoke to 400 of the 800 in attendance at the next home match you would get a much broader opinion.

I'm sure he was a right back, but could play centre half too..

Good, solid player from what I remember

My heart dropped when I read that.

Not even a bit funny Hughesy!! I almost threw my cup across the office..

Only 8 more hours and then we can stop worrying (I hope!)

« on: January 24, 2012, 01:38:42 PM »
Predictable I suppose, once a league club comes sniffing round, I guess our chances of retaining him diminished.

Hopefully Jim Bentley will have it in him to loan him back for the rest of the season!!

That 2 strikers Morecambe have signed in the past week...

Good luck for the future Jack

Darkwah was on loan at Mossley in the early part of this season and did very well there. Was definitely too good for that league.

He's a similar player to Redshaw, so maybe (fingers crossed) the vibes coming from the Redshaw camp towards Halifax aren't that positive!

I hope he stays, he seems to be enjoying it at  Alty, but sometimes heads can be swayed and I suspect Halifax will throw a load of money at him.

At the end of the day, I think both teams will be in the same league next year and he'll be playing at a higher level.

This has made my blood boil. I know the chairman has to support the team and the management and to an extent I don't disagree with his comment about good players becoming bad overnight, but, even he must be thinking that some players are going through the motions.

He then goes on to say get behind the lads... Well I'm sorry Mr Rowley but your diehard 600 -700 fans have been doing that for the last 3 seasons from the demise of heathcote, to the best efforts of McKenna to the laclustre efforts of Sinnott. We have paid hundred if not thousands of pounds watching the diatribe we've been served up for to long. We are allowed a voice, if you choose to ignore us and bury your head in the sand then so be it, but we should be the ones you listen to the most...

I agree with the thread DAB pit on last week, clear them out, start again and instill some passion, which ultimately starts with the management team. Our current 2 are mute and inept tactically.

No doubt 200+ will turn up at Halifax next week, we don't expect much, why would we after 3 seasons of pain and anguish and you'll probably still have the audacity to expect more...

Finally, if you carry on with the current plans, without an attempt to diversify and bring in new ideas, sponsors etc, then we will no doubt no longer be the number one non-league team in the north west. I'll guarantee that your 600 diehards will still be here though..

Good luck Robbie wherever you end up... You wore Alty's shirt with pride and passion and will always be welcomed back with open arms..

Sorry, for me the ref did ok. He could have brandished cards if he wanted, but chose not to.

I have to say the continual derision at refs in this league is getting a bit boring. They are all of a similar standard, which isn't the best. Get over it - at least we know what to expect..

Rather than go at refs, look at our defence, which to be honest is a bag of sh*t...

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Totally outclassed , simple as.
« on: October 22, 2011, 07:06:22 PM »
Going forward we were no worse than Stalybridge, they put there chances away - we didn't. Clee, Twiss and Reeves in 2nd half should all have scored - 2 of those chances were in the 6 yard box. The big difference today was desire. Stalybridge, young lads who wanted to win, their game plan was to give it to the 8 (worthington?).. who pinged it around. Their 2 full backs were solid and their attackers clinical.

My issue is with the desire of some of our players. For me Densmore and Flynn are not interested, others' heads go down when we go behind.. Maybe adopting the Stalybridge approach, clearing the decks and starting afresh is the way to go.

We desperately need a box to box player too.
