Altrincham FC First Team / Playoff dates
« on: April 19, 2014, 01:15:31 PM »
Can anyone confirm the dates for the playoff semi finals and final? (assuming we get there!)

I'm hoping the final isn't on Sunday 11th May due to a clash with a family christening, which I'll have to find an excuse to avoid if Alty get into the final.. and means I'll be in the doghouse for weeks!

Can't find it anywhere on the internet...

Thanks in advance...

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Alty v AFC Telford Matchday thread
« on: February 04, 2014, 10:23:44 PM »
Tough conditions tonight, Telford handled them better and were the better team. I can't understand how few chances we create in games this season compared to last? Havern and Leather solid as always tonight, Griffin for me is poor... Walshaw worked hard, Reeves tried hard but no service to him, Midfield were non existent. Hughesy is right , a ball playing midfielder who can stamp his presence is essential...

Stop being a know it all and jump off the fence. If you have inside club knowledge.. good for you. Today was shocking for the reasons stated above.

Even you must admit, that the referee was inconsistent. In my opinion, it was a red card. But, as mentioned in another thread, if you set your stall out early you have to be consistent.

Personally, I am sick of you defending the manager, the referee, the tea lady, everybody, except the supporters... We generally all agree, but don't rub our noses in it. Yes we were second before today and, today we were unlucky, but we (the supporters) think (know) where we need strengthening and, who are our weak links...

Let us moan, groan, shout, scream and post on here, we don't need to be shown the error of our ways!!

Totally agree Ecky, Perry is more interested in impersonating Tom Daly than actually playing football and Smikle (who played in a good kiddy team) has two ways of playing... Sidewards and backwards...

Get rid of both, they add nothing to the team.. I would question the managers tactics, but at this juncture will not call for his head (but might start soon!!)

Totally agree, Perry and Smille are two of the most abject, incompetent footballers I've ever seen. They shouldn't bother getting in the car on a saturday. The fact we hqve to pay them after their performance(s) is a disgrace. I'd rather see Ryan Brooke (at least he tried) and any other winger in the team.

Today was one of those days, ref didn't help, I thought it was a red, but it wasn't even with Hednesford fouls going unpunished. We'll get the rub of the green in other games.

Their 8 was their standout player (and he knew it) no need to wind the home fans up, should have let his football speak for itself. Brackley are a better team than Hednesford and we'll finish above Hednesford..

We desperately need a competent centre half to play alongside Luca, when Leather is unavailable we look frail!

A couple of others that made me chuckle....

"Worlds sh*ttest boyband" to the 4/5 One direction wannabes from Stalybridge (I think) and,

"Haribo, haribo" to the Colwyn Bay "youths" as they left midway through the second half at their place..

« on: November 07, 2012, 10:35:15 PM »
Not disappointed about going out, we were dreadful. Lacey looked like he was going to explode at any point, possibly just frustrated, Duncan did well but in the end over played a little, Moult looked like the best player on the pitch when he came on. He's never a centre back though..

Sadly Brooke and Mitchley only confirmed what i already knew.. not good enough.

We have a good starting 11, but strength in depth is non existant..

Where was Mr Sinnott tonight? Was the trip too far? Or did he travel to Plymouth?

Fair play to Congleton, best of luck in the next round..

Ah! didn't realise that the CSC qualified as a game that bans would apply in..

This reflects our lack of depth in central defence then, we might have to play Havern (if fit) or Rodgers, both of which I would rather be rested...

Altrincham FC First Team / Team for tonight
« on: November 07, 2012, 09:44:07 AM »
Team for tonight for me would be

Reid
Densmore
Leather
Hall
Grimshaw
Lawrie
Watmore
Moult
Ofori
Brooke
Mitchley

Stupidly you have to play your strongest team, I'm not sure we'd get away with playing less of the starting 11 from Sunday.

Mysteriously when the Cheshire FA enquire, Coburn, Havern, Doughty, Bruno, Clee, Reeves all have either a) all took knocks on Sunday or b) have a 'team' stomach bug

I don't want to play down the CSC, but we'll have to give some of those left out above a game on Saturday in the trophy which realistically we have a better chance of winning than the FA Cup (albeit only just)  ;D

Home draw or big league 1 team away

Hopefully the players will get a bonus for 3 great results, the PA system is updated and we don't get into a fixture backlog when we get to the 2nd and 3rd rounds

Excellent today lads, I remember us struggling to beat 9 man vics a few seasons ago..
