No idea what's going on but Linney's just been sent off in first half added time. FFS.

We're still back in the playoffs places if we win our game in hand but, yeah, when does a blip become a collapse?

Talk about coming back down to Earth with a bump. This time last week we were eyeing to three, now I'm just praying we can squeak top seven. :-[

Terrible set of results today in terms of playoff rivals - including Bromley coming back from 2-3 down at home to Chesterfield to snatch a last minute winner. Banks scored an absolute stunner for Chesterfield in that one by the way - Freemanesque! Let's hope the one remaining result goes the right way :)

NATIONAL LEAGUE
AFC Fylde 2 BARNET 4 :(
BROMLEY 4 Chesterfield 3 :(
FC HALIFAX TOWN 2 Woking 1 :(
Maidenhead United 1 OLDHAM ATHLETIC 3 :(
Rochdale 1 SOLIHULL MOORS 2 :(
Wealdstone 2 GATESHEAD 4 :(
Aldershot Town ? Altrincham ? :-\

Matty has done really well but if Ethan is 100% fit and ready to go he must come back in , he is our numero uno .
Numero ventinove, no?

There is a sporting covenant on it, so I think it renders the land nearly useless for resale.
Ah - that's a bit of a bugger.

Big disadvantage we have is we do not own the land. Some clubs did and it financed their new home.
I may be wrong on this but my understanding is that, although we don't own the freehold, we do own the lease on the land. Is this not similar to owning a leasehold house or flat? i.e. You pay an annual ground rent to the freeholder (TMBC) but you can still freely sell the leasehold property for only slightly less than it would fetch as a freehold.

I remember one Alty game at a very wet Bradford Park Avenue where balls hoofed up the pitch would just land and stop. Everyone would suddenly realise the ball wasn't going out and there was a mad race to get to it first. Aye - it were a proper man's game when I were a lad

Isle of Man. Alty played a friendly against FC Isle of Man in 2022.

I've been pleasantly surprised at how well Matt has stepped into Ethan's shoes. I haven't detected any hesitation in our back line and in both of the last two games he's pulled off saves when called upon. Losing Ethan during such a vital run in is definitely a blow but Matt is no park player and looks every bit a first team goalkeeper. Even the Solihull commentator kept referring to him as "Altrincham's number 1".

It's not exactly 'Woodman out' but with their winless 2024 continuing, there's quite a bit of grumbling going on on the Bromley forum. I thought this post illustrated just how different the atmosphere is down there compared to the buzz at the J Davidson.

Man management I would suggest is lacking.

I've sat in enough changing rooms (in three different countries) to know what makes a group tick.

There will be some that have grafted all season, just to see a new bunch rock up and take your shirt without having to earn it.

Winning sides need a bond, a bond that's forged on respect. I truly feel our changing room will suffer due to the far too many ins and outs. I make it about 36 players so far this season?

What's wrong with building a tight squad pre season of 20 odd solid fellas that can grow together and achieve?

All's not lost. Might seem like a over reaction to some but alarm bells are ringing in my ear oles.

After the big fanfare this week and us swinging our dicks and checkbook about it was just another textbook anti climax.

Footnote:

Kevin Philips was a credit to Pool today, smiled throughout and kept dignified in victory.

Our manager on the other hand let off numerous C Bombs to the fourth official, with his lapdogs looking on clueless.....
