I’ll start by saying if anyone has 1-5 spare tickets I’ll take all/any of them. Just drop me a message here if possible.

Yes, both full time here after signing contracts in April until 2023 I believe.

Let's hope it's all just rumours. Extremely unprofessional if it isn't and has been leaked like this though

Sounds like the league forced our hand on playing the game last night.

Before we all get carried away with the huge attendance at last night's game, there are a few points of concern that need addressing.

While the total attendance was massive for a fixture of this kind, the amount of cash generated through gate receipts will be far more modest given the incentives to encourage attendance.  Granted the bar takings will have been good, but the bar always seems to get busy, and you can only generate sales at the speed you can pull pints.

From my POV, I thought the atmosphere was poor and, if I'm honest, I didn't enjoy the evening very much at all.

If the Club decides to run with this idea again, I'd suggest they consider alternatives such as:
one match where season ticket holders are given a freebie to pass on,
one match where <12s come free and parent only pays a fiver
etc.

Realise I may be a lone voice, but I don't think that one-off large attendances are the be-all-and-end-all, if the experience is not as good as it could be.

I'd agree with this too. Although, counting out the regular 1100-1200 we might ordinarily get that's almost an extra 2500. If even 100 of those became semi regular supporters it's been a success in my opinion. Wouldn't want it quite like that every week, though.

Very concerning. Let’s hope Neil and Phil’s buy out clause is bordering on extortionate.

I think the work that Phil and Neil have done since taking over has been incredible so they deserve all the plaudits they're getting. I'm speculating, as we all are, that they wouldn't take a job in the league below if it were offered and perhaps in our league too even if it were a Stockport or Notts County but it's hard to say. "Unfortunately", they're doing such a good job with us that it's bound to catch the attention of the wider footballing community.

As Andrew says, they're well looked after and should have long contracts with us. They fully deserve them and it does definitely help when the inevitable happens and other clubs come looking.

Phil often mentions he never looks into the past and is always looking forward, so all we can do is make sure that he's provided the resources and support here to be able to do that, and keep us pushing as high as we can possibly go. He's building something very special here with Neil. Long may it continue.

As I said tonight as long as Phil doesn't get ideas above his stations going got a glamorous Jon and the board don't get too fixated on Phil the god, we're on to a good thing here and both can grow together.

All I wanted was to be competitive in every game at conference level, right now we are. Long may it continue.

I think this can be loosely translated as “please never leave us, Phil”

« on: October 05, 2021, 11:41:13 PM »
We fought hard in that second half to get back into the game so credit to the lads there. I thought Grimsby were excellent tonight, quick on the ball and didn't give us any time or space until they went down to 10. Definitely the best side I've seen this season and truthfully speaking probably had a bit too much for us before the red.

As some have said already 3 points from these last 2 games is a superb return overall, especially as we've played two league leaders in the space of a few days. I'd imagine Parky will be trying to rotate the squad just enough to try and ensure we don't suffer a bit of burnout like we did last season whilst ensuring we continue to put in these excellent performances.

Unbelievable support from them too bringing that many but also 1600 Alty fans for a Tuesday night is something I don't think I've ever seen for a league game before.

Looks like Grimsby will be given some of the pop side tonight according to twitter. I understand the sentiment but also can't help but think it puts us at a slight disadvantage for being at home.

Finding someone who can finish all the chances we create is our main problem

How many times must this be said?
I can't believe the management can't see the problem when all the fans can.
I can only think there must be a lot going on behind the scenes, up to now, unproductively.

Problem is I think they can. We've been very lucky over the years with Little then Reeves then Hulme (to a lesser extent) Little and Reeves especially were top strikers for us and probably could've walked into a lot of conference sides. I think it is a case of having to take a chance on a striker and see if they "come good" as any national league level established 20 goal a season striker isn't realistically going to join Altrincham unfortunately.

So, we're left with a loan option, finding a player at a lower level who's scoring regularly and hoping he makes the step up or finding a player that's dropped out of professional football and taking a chance on them.

Dinanga might still be that player. He looks sharp, makes all the right runs into space and can hold up the ball better than some I've seen us sign but his end product hasn't been up to scratch yet. His one goal might have been an ok start but we've all seen the chances created in our first few games and he should have had more from that service in my opinion. I will say that I've seen enough to say that he deserves some more time but we really need to start putting chances away now or we'll start to make things difficult for ourselves again.

Probably the worst performance of the season yesterday. Clearly we miss players like Smith and Kosylo and I’d even go as far to say the energy of a player like Richman wasn’t there either. Piggott isn’t doing the business yet but I think it’s fair to give him the end of this season to get him back to sharpness and see what he can do next year with a full preseason behind him too.

As for playoff pushes I think we probably all got carried away with that this year. The aim at the start of the season was to stay away from a relegation battle which we’ve done (or would have if it were in place) and I think now the focus has to be on hitting Phil’s target of 50 points. If we manage it (with the added hurdle of less matches than originally thought) I think we can all agree we’ve had a successful year back at national league level.

Lots to work on for next season of course but even with our poor form after February we’re still making good progress.

Byron Harrison has been released by Altrincham after a three-month stay at The J.Davidson Stadium. From OS.

Is that same Byron that wasn't deemed good enough by fans who were then told we didn't get football?

Its a worry if Peers is our only fit striker.

You mean the same fans that wrote off Hancock as not good enough for the conference or that Kosylo was a liability? As supporters we're all brash and often rush into a quick judgement of players. Tom Hannigan was written off straight away as was Nicky Clee too I seem to remember. Obviously on this occasion it hasn't worked out but it wouldn't have been the first time Phil has taken someone that hasn't fired somewhere else or that has lost their way and turned them into a proper player.
