Altrincham FC First Team / Quick Couple of Questions
« on: August 19, 2010, 10:23:39 AM »
Hello Alty,

I just have a quick couple of questions I need answering........

1. A couple of seasons ago Alty match DVDs had a really good commentary on them, can you tell me the name of the commentator?

2. Do Alty Supporters Trust still sell match DVDs of Alty home games? If so, what are the details?

I am doing a media-related column in the match programme this season and would like to mention these things, so accurate information would be great before Ballers meets me in the bar after the game to tell me I've written a load of bollocks.

Thanks a lot,

Phil

I might as well comment seeing as you're discussing my club.....!

I will be gutted if we don't reach the play-offs again this time. We have kept the squad together from last year and added a few interesting players (like Greg Young) and, with a weaker league this time round, we should be up there. If we can get the likes of Gash and Sangare fully fit then we should kick on. We have one of the best keepers outside the Football League in Michael Ingham, potentially the best centre back pairing in the league (McGurk and Young) and Brodie and Rankine up front who everyone hates playing against. Our midfield is probably our area of weakness but then against Alex Lawless is a class act, as is Neil Barrett on his day.

Luton will win the league, but Grimsby and Darlington will make no impact and Cambridge are the ones to watch in my book. Crawley have spent big but the wheels will almost certainly fall off.

Either way, it should be an interesting season and I will be rolling up at Alty once again.

Altrincham FC First Team / York v Alty Footage
« on: April 06, 2010, 07:17:37 PM »
Hi there,

As you know I filmed the game yesterday and the web highlights are almost finished. This season, due to the manager wanting restrictions on who can view the match highlights of our home games, the highlights are being sent out by e-mail mailing list. The YouTube link is initially "private" but each person on the list gets sent the "private link" and, as the YouTube rules go, it's the first 25 people who click the link who can then view it. I know it sounds like a pain and as though it's some kind of dodgy porn being distributed but this is the current situation at YCFC. The link will be unlocked and made completely public at a later date.

So, if you want putting on the list please e-mail me at  phil_tsarevich@hotmail.com

I should be sending out the link later this evening once the video has processed.

In addition, I will be putting the game onto DVD for anyone who wants a copy. I usually charge £8 (including postage) for these DVDs, they are simply packaged but with decent quality content, and seeing as it's Alty I am happy to send one to anyone who wants one on the proviso you make a donation to an Altrincham FC-related supporters organisation (STAR is it? If that's ok with them). E-mail me with your address and I can send one out to you and please DO NOT send any money to me as I'll spend it on beer or on York City's new expensive flop.

Cheers.

You already know this but I want to make it absolutely clear that the opinions and comments expressed by Radio York are in no way representative of the views of York City supporters.

If you think they are muppets, imagine how WE feel!!

So why did the two commentators say "I dont know maybe some alty fans are involved......"

Alty fans?

Impossible, unless there was a big conspiracy to infiltrate the home end, the only Alty people in the Main Stand would have been the directors and any family members of the players who were there as guests.

We have no chance in the play-offs unless we play Rushden who are equally as garbage as we are.

See you next season.

Only joking mate, have just returned from an evening in the company of some of the travelling supporters, a most entertaining bunch.

And we gave them CHIPS!

Barney, let that be a lesson to you!!

Hello,

Obviously some of you have decided that York are a "set of c***s" or whatever so I thought I would bring you a little peace offering:

Lovely finish by Chris Denham

Cheers!

The previous post was pretty much a fair assessment from what I saw.

Whether the Safety Officer responsible thought GH was going to assault the ref I don't know but, from what I saw (from a distance admittedly) Heathcote was not to blame.

Just a quick one and you've probably already set off, but as far as I know they don't bother charging away fans the extra quid to sit down any more, especially if it's raining.

It really does depend on what side Foyle puts out tomorrow because we've got a home game with AFC Wimbledon 2 days later which, if we win, that's the play-offs secured.

I reckon draw tomorrow, then we will beat AFCW on Wednesday.

Altrincham FC First Team / Tomorrow's Game
« on: April 04, 2010, 09:48:55 AM »
Morning all,

Are you all set for tomorrow?

Heavy rain forecast here in York tomorrow unfortunately, which is bad news for using our open away terrace. As you will all know the bar at the ground welcomes away supporters for a few pints before the game but, if you fancy a pub near the ground rather than the social club, there is the Burton Stone round the corner and the Exhibition, Bootham Tavern and White Horse down Bootham about 5 minutes walk from the ground. Programmes are £3 and are a bit rubbish in my opinion, although the last one was better. As you may have read, our pitch isn't in a very good state and we have not won at home in the league since 16th January when we defeated Hayes & Yeading 4-1.

Finally, if you're into nostalgia, the following links show all our previous games in the Conference at Bootham Crescent in recent years:

Season 2005-2006
Season 2006-2007
Season 2007-2008
Season 2008-2009

Have a good trip.

No surprise it's off to be honest.

If, like me, you just want to get out of the house for a beer or two and watch some football as an excuse to go somewhere, a couple of us are going to Stalybridge v Southport (which I think is 7th v 1st in Conf North) so you are welcome to come along.

We will be in the pub near the ground from about 2pm.

Fingers crossed, I have had to delay my departure time due to the pitch inspection as I don't really want to shell out £22 on a train ticket if it's going to be off.

If it's on I shall be on the 09.58 to Manchester, arriving 11.19 then straight on the tram to Alty, hopefully arriving about 12, still plenty of time to see the sights!

Good luck to the ground staff anyway.

Altrincham FC First Team / What Are The Chances?
« on: December 24, 2009, 12:07:39 PM »
Hello,

What are the chances of the game being on on Monday?

Rumour has it that there has been some serious snowfall over your way and I don't want to miss my favourite drinking session of the season.
