Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Full Fixture List on Club Website Now!
« on: July 05, 2011, 04:00:15 PM »
Greetings.

I can't find the fixture on 1st October, is it the FA Cup?

We are away at Stockport so if you fancied putting on a 12.30 kick off for us so we can do a double-header involving our favourite Cheshire football club, that would be excellent! We'd definitely bring a coachload.

What a depressing start for you away at Torygate, Wetherby Road really is an unspeakably poor venue for any kind of football.

TaxiPhil was just quoting what i had told him which in turn is what RadioYork had informed its listeners. Cheers for the correct info UKPhil although a winger and a left back is probably worse than two teenage centre backs!

Radio York is pure muppetry, I envy your club having your own radio thing now.

You're right though Joe, it was worse. You couldn't help feel gutted for the bloke, he just wants to play!

Gary mills sabotage job because he still loves tamworth

Possibly.

Although Greg was named on the bench so you'd assume the manager was willing to play him if necessary.

Joe listened to this on local radio on his way back from Middlesbrough this afternoon. Having recalled Greg, York played two teenage centre backs. Words totally fail me (at least ones I could use on this Forum without Ecky dropping on me like a ton of Twiss anyway).

I am afraid that's not correct, we don't have any teenage centre backs.

Central defence was Fyfield and Meredith, the latter has played left-back all season the former is a winger. Chris Smith phoned in to say he couldn't play because his wife had given birth (!).

So yes, if I was Greg or an Alty fan I would be pretty pissed off being behind a winger who hasn't played since November and a left-back being picked ahead of an actual central defender.

Just one point of order while we're getting stuck into York City.

The "biased commentators" you are referring to are not appointed by York City, not employed by York City, do not represent York City, do not speak for York City, and have nothing to do with York City. So all the "places like these" flagellation is not necessary. York City have never had that attitude and that you well know as we've been playing you for years now.

Sorry to hear about stewards being "assaulted", I hope both clubs investigate this if this is the case and the matter is dealt with in the appropriate manner.

444 away fans, only 9 short of my prediction Darren!!

You only bought 417 on a saturday last year why do you think tuesday's attendance will be higher out of interest?

Because we were without a game on Saturday and we are more likely to win this year than last as we have a manager who will attack rather than sit back.

Secondly, last year we had just lost at home to Salisbury City a few days before and had a bigger game a few days later away at Mansfield to think about. This year we play Hayes & Yeading after Tuesday so no-one's that bothered about going and Alty is a better choice for those who can't afford both away trips.

As for the comments about Yorkshire, Greg Young, your saviour and the man who some of you claim will single-handedly keep you in the BSP, is a Yorkshireman is he not? In fact even Nicky Clee's Clicky Knee is a Yorkshire clicky knee!

 ;)

surely a draw would be an acceptable result for both teams.....

Not for us, no.

It's win matches, and win matches NOW, or else it's no Play-Offs and all a bit of a damp squib of a rubbish season.

A draw away at Alty and away at Hayes & Yeading is no good to us. We need 6 points this week desperately.

Good win for you yesterday, Greg Young scoring the winner!

Sadly for you he can't play on Tuesday night as part of the loan deal........

Should be a decent turnout from York on Tuesday, at least 400 you would hope, and for us it's a crucial game in our quest for a play-off place. We have a full strength squad to choose from and, as we didn't play yesterday, we should be raring to go. We have lost the last 3 away games, including a 4-0 shocker at Southport, but have beaten AFC Wimbledon (4-1) and Fleetwood (1-0) in our past two home games. As nice as club as you are and as good a relationship our clubs have, we will be coming to go all out for a win. Nothing else will do at this stage of this season, 10 points of the play-offs with 4 games in hand, so we can't afford any slip-ups.

I am coming across early for a few beers, looking forward to it.

Great   ;D

hope he finds his feet quickly, as hasnt featured much for York.

Will be good to see him back with Williams and Smithy.

Good boost for the squad.

He played 45 minutes today in a behind closed doors friendly v Leeds United, he is match fit and ready to play as far as I know.

Silly question?

Can we please please have him back?

If he plays like that for us again I'll pay for his f**king taxi back to Cheshire.

York City were threatened with a heavy fine by the FA when a couple of giddy youngsters dented a fence in the away end at Woking a few years ago.

300 people running onto the pitch, pelting opposing fans with missiles and forcing opposition players into the stands under the threat of serious assault, all recorded and broadcast to the world on television and no action.

Sensible stuff, and they wonder why the English game is in such a state.
