Didn't have one of his better games but I do like Hancock as number 10.

He's our 3rd best

In that position?

Yes...a million miles off James Poole in that position. Took his goal well but pretty anonymous the rest of the game.

Million miles off? If that was the case then I am sure Poole would have scored a lot more. Hancock is more influential in that position than Poole. He gets in better positions and supports Hulme a lot better. Hulme is back scoring. I think Poole is decent but he goes missing in so many games. I would love to see the stats.
If someone mentions about ball retention again then just think... is that ball retention at the right time in games? It is fine when we are 3 or more up but Poole can slow us down.
We look and are more dangerous in this league with Hancock as number 10.

I'd be very surprised if there's many who share your opinion.

I recall us playing there against them on the day i took my daughter back for her secomd year at Uni in September 2003 and we were woeful as we lost 2-0 in the FA Cup. Not sure if we've played them since,

We need somebody who can cross a ball from a set piece. All those corners we had last night were wasted mainly due to poorly taken free kicks. It a basic ability of being a footballer ffs

In complete agreement. Hancock should take corners.

Bloody hell, is Hancock paying you? You're slagging James Poole off at every opportunity and yet appear to have Hancock on a par with Messi. Most people I see at the games have Hancock down as being mostly anonymous and I would say he has gone off the boil more than most.

You're probably right but we can live in hope that Parky realises that teams are sussing us out.

I reckon it's time for a slight change in tactics and suggest this line-up.

                       Thompson

  Densmore       Harrison       Hannigan       White

          Richman      Moult        Harrop

                            Hancock

                       Hulme        Poole

This will hopefully tighten us up a bit in midfield and stop James from being man-marked so much. He should have been pushed up front last Tuesday when their No 6 was following him everywhere. JJ not doing enough for a starting place at the moment.

It's over 50 years since I've seen us play at Buxton and can't say I've ever seen any signs for the ground when I've visited the town. Any tips on where the ground is from the town centre?

how are you getting to the town centre, train?

By car...and I don't do sat navs! Guess I'll check their website out.

I think it shows how far we've come when we've got 14-15 players that have all made a solid contribution, and are therefore missed when not on the team sheet.

I'd be loath to lose either Moult or Richman unless absolutely necessary - the Buxton home game springs to mind where they were both sorely missed.

Ordinarily I'd say 4-3-3 is a great shout (I bloody hate 4-2-3-1 in the Premier League but it's suited us well) - but I'd also say Poole's best position is No10 and we'd quickly realise it (as per early season) if we tried something else.

I think I'm right in saying that James hasn't played the No 10 role that much in his past career and scored 20 goals in his part season at this level with Salford. Certainly worth a try pushing him further forward.

I saw Jackie in an 8-1 win against Rhyl (?) in the Cheshire League in the sixties, which I think clinched the League title.  Referee Harold Crook (Salford) whom I later met a an assessor.

Chester Reserves away was the 8-1 Cheshire League clinching game in 1966. Jackie scored 7 and it was a privilege to be there to witness it...how old am I getting!!

I can certainly think of a fair few worse performances at Moss Lane last season.
