Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Post match interviews.
« on: April 23, 2023, 08:24:19 PM »
I think the balance is about right.

Nothing is worse when you see interviews where the interviewer is trying to trick a response that will cause some negative headlines. And PP is usually pretty contrite when the side underperformed...I don't recall him really trying to put a positive spin on a poor performance.

The loan signing have been much better than the permanent signings

Not a massive surprise. If a club has a young exciting player who isn't ready to break through to the first team, it's a good strategy to loan them out to get some income and help develop the player.

If a club has a player who is not performing, then they just sell them.

big enough place for the mighty Rammstein to perform last year...

Thats the only other time in my life that I had heard of this place basically :)

Given that Macclesfield Town are now lacking a major club, some pretend millionaires could buy us, relocate us from Moss Lane to Moss Rose (BBC would never notice the difference) and we could become the MT Robins.

It's kind of been done before, so I don't see any problems at all.

7. Sir Graham Brady (who has allegedly asked for a salary of £60k per year and also reportedly demanded to be played on the right wing)

I heard his wife will also take over all administration at the club for the duration of his playing career. Salaried of course :) He will also petition for the club to forge links with overseas club, with many possibility of overseas summer tours (all outside the EU however)

My first ever game al ML was Alty vs Crewe in the FAC 1st round in 1979. I was still a kid at school. We won 3-0 and the crowd was 3001 I think. To this day I credit myself with being "the one" :)

we are so lucky to have this forum. From time to time when I look at other clubs fans forums, it's clear to me we are one of the very best compared to the clubs around us.

So thanks also from me to Gary (whoever you are...we never met lol)

Would having Rochdale and hartlepool or Harrogate come down, be better than more southern clubs from League 2? Likewise CHester and CHorley from CN.

40 + years too late....I wanna see Rochdale relegated. I'm still bitter !!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: How Many Points
« on: January 18, 2023, 11:04:04 AM »
Bottom 4 clubs all averaging less than 1 point a game. Oldham, 5th from bottom on exactly 1 per game (but improving). 46 games in a season...means 46 should do it, but 50 is likely to be pretty comfortable I reckon.

blimey - to think we used to complain about our old pitch, and a few people had a (not so) quiet weep at the state of our soggy pitch this weekend. Them were the days !!

Brilliant footage. Some very dodgy hairstyles...hope the players concerned were suitably ashamed for years afterwards :)

It was amazing to see how tightly packed the Everton fans were and their reaction after the first goal....those were very different days to be a football fan. And for the second goal, in front of the Alty fans....well it seems a lot of home tickets were sold that night. Anyone able to hazard a guess how many Alty fans were there ?

Its over £100k prize money in total for the winner, so its worth a shot just for that.

There is a strong Yoruba culture in NE Brasil, due to historic slave trafficking. But Pele was born in Minas Gerais and spent most of his early years in SP.

That said, Brasil is so multi cultural that it's likely he had much interaction with Yoruba's throughout his life.

Anyway, he is in the very best hospital in Brasil, so plenty of reasons to be hopeful.

What the taxman doesn’t see. Don’t seem like a dodgy bunch to me. 🙄

More likely to be a money cleansing strategy... in which case you can sleep at night...the tax will be paid for sure...plus "extra" taxes ;)

This is the history of football sadly
Tax will be paid on what they declare. Cash unlike plastic is not accountable.

History suggests that actually all the cash is banked....and more from illegal side businesses. They then pay tax on it all, but the money becomes successfully cleaned. This is why such unsavoury sorts have bought football clubs over the years.

Sad but true
