Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Time to get behind the club
« on: May 06, 2008, 07:55:35 PM »
In relation to Gary's comments, I was thinking about this myself. Isnt it about time that STAR was relaunched to encourage new fundraising initiatives and to give the supporters back their voice. I am not knocking STAR or any of the work they do, but it does seem to have been low key recently. I remember back to the launch at Cresta when everyone was full of hope and vigour.

I would like to agree with Alty365's comments and will not be renewing my season ticket for next season.

The fact that friendlies have been arranged is surely confirmation, if it wasn't already obvious, that GH is staying on next season. Why the club think playin FCUM  so soon after the recent trouble is a good idea I don't know although every club press release Im becoming more and more disillusioned.

Altrincham FC First Team / There is no £70,000
« on: April 23, 2008, 04:36:06 PM »
Id just like to make the point that this £70,000 profit that the club made last year is not cash sat in the bank account. As far as I was made aware from the club AGM all that money has been spent on supplementing the grant for the building of the new catering facilities/toilets, servicing existing debt and an increase in the playing budget for this season 2007/08. If I am wrong I stand to be corrected and I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there isn't a load of cash to be spent in the Summer. The board will carry on being prudent.

Ah but you're forgetting the manager can do know wrong in the Geoff Goodwi's eyes.

I agree with the summariser - Altrincham haven't got the ability to go all out attack to a team like Toquay

Surely playing attacking football away to Torquay would be suicidle. Fair play to the lads for defending so resolutely for 44 mins. I wouldnt go for it until 10 mins to go if we're still losing. We need to try and nick the odd point here and there away from home not lose 5-0 every game.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: the BIGGEST alty game?
« on: January 25, 2008, 08:40:20 PM »
I remember my biggest games in 3 different periods, in the last Kingy years its got to be Tottenham. Under Bernard it has to be that great night at Saltergate in the Unbond Challenge Cup, I remember the post match scenes vividly and winning that night set us on a magical fairytale ride under Bernard before it went belly up. The Kidderminster is also big in the memory. Under GH it is the runcorn game that set his era alight and of course the nuneaton and Kettering matches.

My worst game has to be the trophy defeat away to North Ferriby United, or the what seems like numerous defeats away to Winsford on freezing Tuesday nights.

Hasnt he played under GH for a number of years? Also hes more likely to be a Yes man because of their realtionship.

551
First of all if GH is to go then the end of Jan would be the worst time for him to leave. That would mean a new man coming in with no chance to change things. Secondly he needs a competent number 2 with coaching experience at a decent level and ideally new and fresh ideas. Mad Dog does not fit either criteria.

Graham Heathcote will not leave so its pointless talking about it any longer. Next weeks meeting will just be to find a way to secure his job for another year. Cue an article in the messenger by the Chairman about the great job hes done over the last 5 years and that he has a job for life. End of story.

Altrincham FC First Team / GH will now be staying put
« on: December 30, 2007, 01:15:18 PM »
I think its clear with the 5 new players arriving that GH has no intention of going anywhere. Lets hope that he is successful otherise we have missed a good opportunity for change. If he is even doubting his own ability then surely it will take a momentous achievement to motivate the players to survival.

What makes you think Dalton could do better, surely if he'd have had different ideas he would have mentioned them to Graham? The best solution is to bring a new coaching team in

Altrincham FC First Team / Time for a change
« on: December 27, 2007, 02:20:59 PM »
Now that Dalton has gone surely its only a matter of time for Graham to go too. Yesterday as has been documented the players bar maybe one or two showed a distinct lack of pride, passion and belief. This remember was not just any old game but a relegation 6 pointer in a derby match. To turn this around would be a mammoth task I dont believe would be possible without a change at the helm. With the transfer window about to open it would give a new man time to assess the players he's got and bring in reinforcements. Even without reinforcements a new voice, eyes and ears in the dressing room could see an initial change in fortune. If we still go down then it wont be for the want of trying. Carrying on as we are will only be detrimental to the club, undo the hard work put in by the board and ruin Graham's legacy he has worked so hard to earn.
