It would be so desperately unlucky if any sort of playoff push this year is derailed by the pitch.

No fault in the ground staff of course, it's just been terrible.

I'm betting the pitches in the south are pretty heavy at the moment too.

I was in Surrey the last couple of days and the ground is just as wet down there as it is around here.

For me, the way we withstood the 10 minute spell of pressure around the 70 minute mark showed how much progress we've made. We'd have conceded a goal - or even two- in a similar sustained attacking spell last season. We've really grown as a team.
Yes, that was the main thing for me too today, although I thought it was a bit later, just after James Jones came on in a bid to form a more defensive formation. I am not sure whether I said or just thought that Southend can't keep up that pressure for too long, and that, provided we got through that spell, we would be okay.

We did get through, and scored a second goal, and even could have scored a third, which Regan Linney probably would have got if he was at full match sharpness, if you know what I mean, but that margin would have been harsh on a very good Southend team; I do admire the togetherness of their players  management and supporters, who rightly applauded them for their efforts at the end, but not their departing ownership.

As for the minute's silence, people should really know, but maybe it needed an announcement to say that you should not applaud at the start of a minute's silence...

As for the minute silence. The referee blew the whistle at the end of the playing of the last post by the bugler.

What should have happened to avoid any confusion was that the ref should have waited until a minute after the bugler finishing, then blowing his whistle.

As an ex soldier of 24 years service I wish people could just stop and stand still rather than keep walking about whilst the silence is being observed.

...have allocated 1,268 tickets out of 1,550 to themselves - and only 282 to Charlton!!!

Alty, please take note...

Making sure of the home advantage. Good idea.

I would think that Ryan is pretty satisfied at Chesterfield, and realises that his time as being picked ahead of others will soon return.

Too good a player not to be selected in the starting lineup for any length of time.

A fair comment made by one of our most well informed and  long standing fan of the Club.

Attention to detail is as important to the club, both on and off the pitch if we want to be portrayed as a progressive club moving in the right direction.

A point well made Barry.

May struggle in midfield today if Isaac is suspended as reported.

A difficult task without him today

A draw will be a good result
How true this turned out to be. I don't think Lundstrum would have had the same influence had Isaac been present and it may well have tipped things our way.

Some of their fans don't seem that sold on Lundstram yet, in which case they don't deserve him.

The more level headed amongst them that got the best angle of the penalty decision seem to accept that you see them given (even though it was soft), TV angles still very inconclusive.

Most of them seem confident they'll make the playoffs on the basis we were rubbish - I'd be more worried they couldn't dispatch us when we were there for the taking.

That last paragraph of your post is typical of fans of a Billy big bollocks club, they should speak to the Wrexhams of the world and realise that getting out of this league isn’t easy,  unless it’s via the relegation path.

I’m sure our management twosome are staying put . We are in a great position currently with some missing players due to return in the near future, exciting times ahead indeed.

Phil and Neil are well aware of their popularity and in my opinion,  moving on to pastures new wouldn’t be in their minds at this time.

Plus I’ve got  ticket to his Q&A in Dec so he can’t go anywhere 😃😃😉

Just a thought, should not have let Hulme go

I think Jordan wanted to go, and I think we all need to move on - he finished last season strongly but he wasn't the answer going forward.

Perhaps an argument to move back to the Gateshead system at the weekend, play Newby and Amaluzor 'up front' with CCC behind, bring James Jones back in for some minutes and possibly Justin Donawa from the start too?

Could even start with the two Justins up front and drop someone like Newby to the bench as we probably just need to freshen things up a bit?

Who would you drop to fit in James Jones.. Cooper and Baines are doing a good Job?

Definite 2 pts dropped rather than 1 won.

Kiddy were poor, we should have beat them.

Eddie Jones is so frustrating, he always wants to pass back when he has better options to get the ball forward quicker. We are very very good when we attack at pace but for some reason we just pass the ball along the back line Yes there are times when that is all well and good but for Gods sake it’s becoming the Norm which doesn’t do us any good at all,  Kiddy we’re there for the taking tonight but we failed to execute the task.

One good thing about tonight was that Hogan (a very good defender), got himself sent off tonight playing for Oldham, so he will be missing on Saturday. We will need to be sharper when we go to Boundary park ….

One of the problems with our pitch that the ground staff have to consider is that the pitch is being used far too often due to the agreement with MUFC ladies and other users.

I’m sure if Alty had sole use of the pitch it would possibly be able to recover better.

Sensible decision PP..
with all the rain it’s the only outcome. No pitch can take that much rain.
