Altrincham FC First Team / Segregation - Southport
« on: February 04, 2011, 03:37:33 PM »
Im not sure how many of the Southport fans will be coming to Alty tomorrow but could the Officialdom at Alty please leave the popular side free for the Alty fans (ie Under the Camera Gantry) ..

It is a pain in the arse trying to watch the game when we are all stood in the Home end of the popular side...

If I remember right when we visited Haigh Avenue on a chilly windswept night back last August we were exposed to the elements behind the goal at the away  end plus it took an age to get served at the snack bar... I think the bloke was making the fkn pies to order.... ;)

Cheers

Altrincham FC First Team / One for the Historians on the forum

A mate of mine was today talking to an ex Alty player who goes by the name of Bernard. Apparently he scored an og from the half way line against Enfield for whom he later played for.
He now lives over this way (Shropshire) and is a scouser of 65 years of age.

Anyone recognise him from that somewhat hazy description? If so do you know his surname?

Cheers

Altrincham FC First Team / BSP Playoff final venue at the Council House.
« on: January 21, 2011, 03:10:45 PM »
This season's Blue Square Bet Premier promotion final will be held at the City of Manchester Stadium, the Football Conference has revealed.

The fixture will take place on Saturday 21 May.

It has moved from Wembley because the London venue will host the Champions League final seven days later.

Football Conference chairman Brian Lee said: "We are thrilled to have secured a world renowned venue of the quality of the City of Manchester Stadium."

The Conference was forced to search for another venue because UEFA will not allow a game to take place at a stadium hosting the Champions League final during the preceding fortnight.

Lee added: "Having enquired about several Premier League venues it was unanimously agreed that Manchester City is the ideal stadium for our promotion final."

Steve Sayer, Manchester City's chief commercial officer, said: "Manchester City is delighted to be able to host the Blue Square Bet Premier promotion final this season.

"This is the showpiece fixture for non-league football and a big prize awaits the winner. The City of Manchester Stadium will deliver a fantastic event for the clubs involved, their players and supporters alike."

Altrincham FC First Team / Comparisons.

Given Alty's present position in the league... who will be the most worried fans at present?

Alty fans who owe nobody a bean and have the potential to kick start there season starting this Saturday.

or

Being a Crawley fan who have seen there club spend over half a million quid on players with average gates of no more than ours. and a supposedly weekly wage bill of 70 grand in there attempt to gain promotion to FL2 by next April ?

I know which team I would prefer

How about you folks of the forum?

Altrincham FC First Team / negativity on the forum
« on: August 28, 2010, 05:43:31 PM »
Its the 28th August and were 5 games into a new season.... Altrincham FC have played 4 of the fancied teams to gain promotion this season and already we have the doom and gloom merchants writing us off already..

I have missed two games this season and I will admit that we havent been at our best to say the least....

GH and Kenny Mc have had to virtually rebuild the team after all the changes in the close season and we still have two players out with long term injuries.  Plus argueably our best mid fielder has only just been given clearance to play thanks to the Aussie FA's delay in forwarding his registration forms.

Give the lads a chance to gel together, they have had precious little time to train due to the crazy Sat / Tue fixture list that the league seem to favour (probably to give the full time lot a better chance of getting a good start).

10 months ago the talk on here was about a possible play off place and us helping the club raise the funds to allow us to take part in the play offs should we have got there..

We finished 14th in the league which was a superb effort for a part time football club.

If you look at the league now, you will find Tamworth, Forest Green and Southport up there rubbing shoulders with the (so called Big Boys) of this league.   I am sure that any sane fan of those 3 clubs are not travelling home from the games tonight talking about play offs / promotion however they will be pleased at the start they have had..

My point is >>>>> Why are a quite a few of fans of Alty talking about relegation after such a difficult start to the campaign...

By the end of September you may well be on here singing the praises of the team as we are starting to consolodate our season..

All I am asking is give the team a bloody chance for God's sake... They dont want to be reading all the negative posts on here ..

Finally I realise that this is an open Forum where anybody and everybody have a perfect right to view their thoughts and I respect that and enjoy being a member of the forum..

Start worrying if we are Bottom after the Home game against FGR on 30 Nov 10

Lets get behind the lads on BH Monday when they play Mansfield

Cmon Alty....

Altrincham FC First Team / Yet another signing
« on: August 07, 2010, 03:39:05 PM »
From the main website..

HOLMES JOINS AS SAUNDERS LEAVES
Altrincham FC have signed former Burton Albion player Danny Holmes, following a series of successful pre-season games in which he has played both in midfield and defence. Born on 17 November 1986, 23 year-old Danny started out as a Port Vale trainee and then joined Burton Albion from where he was released when they reached the Football League in 2009. Altrincham were already on his trail before the midfielder joined Ilkeston Town for 2009-10.
Leaving Moss Lane is goalkeeper Russell Saunders, who has been released after six starts in two spells with the club. His first appearance was as a loan player in 2007 from Wigan Athletic, when he was carried off with a leg injury after an hour of his debut. He returned to Moss Lane as an Altrincham player for the 09-10 season. The Club wishes him well for the future and thanks him for his services.
