Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Wingers as priority

Pay whatever it takes to sign Milli Alli and Tyrese Sinclair

Can't see Milli Alli leaving Fax . Wasnt he on trail at Alty in pre season ?

Alli is defo one that got away.

If he was on trial here then I definitely missed it. He's been one I'm sure a few of us have been intrigued by since he was on Stockport's books.

Seemed inevitable he'd end up here once Mike Clegg joined our coaching staff, however his departure and Alli's subsequent form makes it unlikely now.

Trial is a bit of a stretch but he’s pictured training with us in Jonathan Moore’s pre-season photos album. Available on Flickr. We were either taking a look at him or just helping him get fit.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Sinclair Recalled

Maybe it's just down to the type of football I want to watch. I'd rather watch an Altrincham FC team than a Manchester United/Fleetwood/Rochdale/Preston/Stoke Reserves Select Xl. I would take the view (and I don't ask or expect anyone to agree with me) that if Altrincham FC is this reliant on loan players then the club isn't ready for this division, and shock horror and heresy hang draw and quarter me is actually maintaining its position under false pretences. But as I said in a previous post I don't really understand football.

We've used a total of 48 players in all competitions, to date.

17 different loanees.

Now we have lost Sinclair, then stick to wingbacks, even though I would always choose wingers

                                 Bynre

           Jones            Ferguson       Baines

MWH              Marriott     Lunstram              E.Jones

                                Oyedele

                   Hulme               Linney

Isn't James Jones suspended though?

Some superb Pitch level highlights from Gateshead of yesterday's game here. (Would love to see more of this kind of thing for our games, adding to the already excellent Alty TV highlights of course)

Lots of chances for both sides yesterday, unfortunately Gateshead took one of theirs and we couldn't with both sides playing some really attractive football.
Overall, we're still a work in progress but despite that have still had one of our best National League seasons this century. Would love us to finish 13th or above this year and hit the 60 point mark, that would represent excellent progress on last season.

So, the secret to winning appears to be having Cher in your changing room...

Another home game of squandered opportunities.

There's only one word for Hugill's astonishing miss during the first half: McGoonaesque.

Mind you, Linney's header in the second half wasn't much better.

That afternoon was a classic case of déjà vu for those of us who spent most of the early 1990s watching Alty lose against Gateshead with depressing regularity.

Incidentally, I wouldn't fancy living in one of those houses that backed onto the away end!

You’re not alone. Very odd layout whereby the away fans have to walk through Brookside to reach the turnstiles.

Having read the comments on that Good Friday game by many Oldham supporters on their forum, it would appear that some of them would be quite happy to bury David Unsworth under a patio.

I didn't think Byrne was fouled in the run-up to Oldham's opening goal (just a collision, in my view) but there was certainly a whiff of handball about it.

For their second goal, my concern is that Byrne palms the free kick straight back into the danger area rather than away from goal. Having said that, the aftermath is all rather curious in that it's Eddy Jones' attempted clearance which bizarrely skews backwards and tees up their forward for a simple header into a vacant net.

I will happily consign the first 80 minutes to the darkest recesses of my fading memory. The closing 10 minutes were highly enjoyable.

Plenty of substandard performances yesterday but, as others have already observed, Osborne was particularly abject (summed up by that ludicrous attempted crossfield pass during the first half which ended up going out for a corner).

Good, honest post-match interview by Parkinson.

Incidentally, I wouldn't fancy living in one of those houses that backed onto the away end!

Suits me - I'd not be going to Aldersh*t and if it's not 3pm they can stream it 😊

Selfish streaming

It's a peculiarity that those who stay at home and stream the game do actually generate some (rather miniscule) revenue for Altrincham FC, whereas those who pay to attend the match contribute entirely to the coffers of Aldershot FC.

To be joyous that the lads that have stuck by us (let's be honest Toby wouldn't habe been the only approached player in Jan) will run out to 20 instead of 75-100 is a shame, all so you can donate about 80p to the club.

I appear to need to point out to you that I wasn't endorsing not attending matches but was merely highlighting this financial anomaly.

I shall be at Boundary Park this afternoon rather than watching events on a screen (but if people opt to do the latter, then that's their prerogative and they shouldn't have to be shamed by you).

Perhaps you should read my post above rather than being a cantankerous old man.

This isn't about Phils choice of streaming its about his indifference to what a 5pm game means to fans. I'll be getting back on Sunday because of this 530 farce.

Oooh, you bitch..!

I can assure you that one of the few joys of being an old curmudgeon is that you get to be even more cantankerous!

I'd respectfully suggest that your ostensibly intended point was not clearly expressed.

I thought that was for teams involved in playoff positions?

Basically BT want to put Wrexham on telly & the slot available was 530 which now means everyone else (even a complete dead rubber like our game) also has to kick off at 530. Good day on the beers for our fans in the SE anyway.

It's a trifle premature to dismiss our visit to Aldershot on the final day of the season as being a 'dead rubber'.

Aldershot are currently languishing merely one position above the relegation zone, five points ahead of Yeovil - whom they happen to play on Good Friday.

Whilst I would expect them to stay up, their erratic form could still place them in jeopardy on 29th April.

An utter farce, my 1 bucket list item of seeing my team at Wembley ruined by underspending on stewards.

Not ruined but merely postponed, surely...?

Bob Lee's late winning goal for Boston United in the FA Trophy Semi-Final Second Leg at York Street back in April 1985 against a then 10-man Altrincham team who had fought back from being 2-0 down.

If you want an encouraging omen, we won the competition the following season.

It looked to me as if he kept the underwhelming Hugill on purely because he was a designated penalty taker.

The stewards operating in front of the turnstile at the main stand were utterly clueless.

When a Halifax supporter asked which turnstile he needed to go to, one luminous-jacketed buffoon was directing him towards the Golf Road End until I intervened and pointed the visitor in the right direction.

Are they not briefed before a game to familiarise themselves with the stadium?

A waste of space (and money).
