Former Chairman of Alty and now a Director of Witton Albion.

The Alty Club Shop may have a dusty copy lurking in their archives?

The author himself still resides in Timperley....so perhaps he might have a spare copy?

Altrincham FC First Team / Today's Altrincham FC Trivia Question
« on: June 28, 2007, 04:06:42 PM »
Name the Welsh clubs that Alty have played against in a competitive fixture (i.e. no friendlies) since 1960.

Easy.

When Brian Flynn hurtled down a grass bank screaming like a rabid jackal in an FA Trophy tie at Colwyn Bay in 1996 in celebration of our last minute equaliser in a 3-3 draw.

Utterly petrifying.

Anyhow, shouldn't you be at Wimbledon cheering on Tiger Tim?

Unfortunately my pilgrimage to the Mecca of middle class Britain lasted only a couple of days.

Pimms, anyone?

Jimmy,

I thought that you did an excellent job as a Centre Court ballboy.

Glad to see a student earning a crust during the Summer recess.

Off to see Lou Reed perform his Berlin album at the Manchester Apollo on Friday night.

Bowie pinched all his moves!

I must register how strongly I disagree with us Bowdon chaps being lumped in with those rowdy Hale types.

Disgruntled of Bowdon.

Bowdon: nouveau riches.

Hale: old money.

Serves you right for living near Bonehead.

Typical Hale, everything comes down to money.

Anyhow, shouldn't you be at Wimbledon cheering on Tiger Tim?

I recall an evening away NPL Cup tie at Mossley in 1979 that wasn't particularly pleasant....

And another thing.

Myself (Waddock) and Martin Kuhl both played centre mid and can help him develop. Mike, if you could kindly relay to him that qpr and birmingham or not, Graham Heathcote pisses all over them in the ball playing midfielder stakes!

Martin Kuhl will be able to tell Lewis Chalmers all about the time he played for Birmingham City against Altrincham in the FA Cup......and lost.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: ELLENDER LOOKING FOR A NEW CLUB

For a number of reasons, I doubt whether Paul Ellender would be the right signing for the club or the player at this point.......BUT.......THIS GUY WAS ONE OF THE TRULY GREAT ALTY CENTRAL DEFENDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LEGEND!!!

Garrrrrbage, Flynn!

Roger Kenyon was far superior....

I think that was the match I'll always remember for that incident in the last minute. We we clinging on and were on the attack, the perfect opportunity to hold up the ball, keep posesion away from our goal. Then out of nowhere, Jamie Baguely smashes the ball back to Stuart scaring the sh*t out of every alty fan. SERIOUSLY COUDNT BELIEVE IT. Can anyone confirm that it was that match

Yes, you are correct.

I recall that traumatising incident, too.

Baguley had come on as a substitute and inexplicably launched a 60 yard backpass!

Oh God, those dreadful and meaningless cup competitions in the Unibond League days....!

The lowest Moss Lane attendance that I can find was 114 for a Unibond League Cup tie against Vauxhall Motors on Tuesday, 11th December 2001.

A bitterly cold night and just three days after the Match Of The Day cameras had covered our FA Cup defeat at home by Darlington.

I don't know what you are worried about....

I'm older than the combined ages of McFadden and Chalmers!

Val Owen's age is the wrong way round....it should read 63....

the steward in charge on the daay actually said

"blimey you've lost weight Mr tunnacliffe"

I know the timescales all wrong but never let the truth get in the way of a good story

Please desist from such blasphemy against the sacred one....

Gary Scott will always have my respect, principally because of the tremendous character and commitment he showed towards the end of the 2003/2004 season, when Alty were scrambling to finish in the top 13 of the Unibond League and qualify for the new Nationwide Conference North.

I recall Scotty playing with a recently-fractured cheekbone against Worksop Town at Moss Lane on Tuesday, 20th April 2004 in a game that Alty had to win.
He scored after only 2 minutes and Alty eventually won 2-1.

Incidentally, the attendance that evening was a mere 484.
Things have certainly changed for the better!
