This is an interesting one actually. Halifax are going to go down the pan, unfortunately, due to a Scarbore esque blase attitude about therir troubles.

You owe £110k to the taxman and you've gto a winding up order served. 'Oh it'll be alright, the takeover will be sorted and it'll be ok'. What? The 'imminent' takeover that hasn't been sorted for years now? I think a bit more urgency is required.

Now hopefully, it won't come to that and it will at least get sorted. As a football fan, my reaction should be of hearthfelt concern.

I'm ashamed to say it's actually 1) Ooh, 1 less team getting relegated this year 2) Christ we're back down to 1 point 3)What players can we get from them?

Now with regards to what would happen to their players. There are undoubtedly a few I'd like to see here at Moss Lane. Matt Doughty the left back, Adam Quinn the centre half, Campbell the centre forward would be just the ticket. Lewis Killeen is excellent too. However, there are plenty of clubs who'd go and get them first, even full time ones. But then I thought, what does actually happen in this situatuin?

The transfer window has closed, would any of these players be able to actually sign for anyone (other than on non contract terms)? i.e. It's not actually a transfer, I've been banging on about this for ages that someone should take Uefa to court for clear restraint of trade.

Does anybody know?

To end with, I do of course hope that Halifax bang their heads together around a table and sort it all out, not a nice situation at all.

Ballers,

You mean that you wouldn't take Bushell back?!

Got to say he's lost a bit of appeal for me with his "I'll go if GH goes" article in the paper.  I thought he always wanted to end his career at his local club regardess of who the manager is.

Ecky,

I'm glad that I wasn't the only one to be disappointed by those remarks from Colin Little.

The club is not about a single individual.

It has been said before, O'Neill is not a striker, I still dont get it why people think he is. O'Neill is there to hold the ball up and lay it off to others.

But at present he's even failing to fulfil that job description!

He lacks physical strength and defenders brush him off the ball all too easily, as was demonstrated by Aldershot's back four last Saturday.

Sorry if I thought out perfomance was the best of the season and thought we deserved something out of it.
Sorry if  I can not find a reason to MOAN at OUR players. I'll try harder to find a reason.

I entered the ground on Saturday being the most unarsed I have ever been about watching a football match. Plenty of people asked me what was up and I have never been so unbothered about a match in my life and its not because of the players or club but because of the fans and how negative they are. Its really pathetic.. What do people really expect ? .. I have even stayed off the forum through fear of really blowing my top....

Thats what I like people getting behind the players we have though .. That'll help .. There are players at the club who I think are not good enough but I will CLAP \ SUPPORT and SING for them as I want them to do well whilst they wear a red and white shirt. can't see how slagging off our players constantly can possibly help ?

ps: Slagging off O'Neil is getting very boring now seeing as he did quite well at the end of season presentations last season ??

I agree that it was surely our best performance of the season to date and should have resulted in our first collection of three points.
However, it didn't and the principal reason was that we could not convert our chances....and therein lies our continuing problem.
I'm not sure whether the Board could possibly help GH with some extra funds (fewer gold taps in the proposed new toilet block perhaps?!) to finance the arrival of another forward but I fear that unless we bolster our attacking options, that first win will continue to elude us.
I'm sorry but the worth of O'Neill as a striker simply escapes me...so, we'll have to agree to disagree on that one!

You continue to overlook the fact that the referee was not the reason that we lost the match but that came about because Alty players failed to take any of the numerous chances that were created.

On Saturday, Peyton looked like he'd been tutored at the Jason Gallagher school of finishing and Joe O'Neill was about as threatening as a Quaker carrying a feather.

By your reasoning, O'Neill should enrol on a refereeing course!

today was a big improvement on the previous two games, but i have to concede that we were woeful in the penalty area, with no belief.Senior had a super game, and there was some quality service into the danger area, but until we attempt to recruit another striker,we simply will not score enough goals to accrue 55 points.there was no lack of effort from most of the players, but the fact remains we have now gone 14 conference games without a win,and accumulated just 3 points!

It's only 10 Conference games without a win, actually!

St Albans City away was our last victory in a league match.

I do think that we need to drop this persecution complex about referees.

He didn't cost us the match - some poor finishing did.

We can't control refereeing decisions...but it is within our power to do something about improving our goalscoring ability.

I think we need to get a grip of the obvious here..
We ripped Aldershot apart, and could have scored a hatfull, but as has been understated elsewhere, we lacked a goal scorer.
Can't say I've ever got the big deal about Joe O'Neill, but today he was dreadful - jogging along alongside his marker all afternoon! He does next to no running off the ball, and is never in the right place at the right time!! We can make good crosses all day, but Joe won't be on the end of them, and midfielders can look to play into space, but Joe won't be there
And to top it all our biggest threat Senior is taken off, when O'Neill has not been in the game all afternoon.
Sure he tries and holds the ball up, etc, etc, but call me old fashoined, but I think a striker should be able to 'read' the game and score goals
Great effort today, but something is really, really lacking. Seemed kind of obvious to me!!  ::)

Nail hit firmly on head.

Well said.

The biggest problem today was the referee what a disgrace.

Nonsense.

The biggest problem today was that we do not possess a forward who can put the ball in the net.

Aldershot's defence was very brittle.....and still the only way that we could score was via a fluke.

Unless we improve our attacking options, relegation is inevitable.

Teasy....I watched Nice v Rennes last week on Setanta-I had small winning bets on Nice to lead at half time & the game to end in a draw. The ground looks quite interesting.....fairly basic by Le Championnat standards but a proper football ground with a decent atmosphere.

A fantastic win in Marseilles on wednesday by the way!

Flynny,

You need to get a job!

Haven't you got some ironing to be getting on with?

I thought that the writing was on the wall for Rod when Pat McFadden was selected in preference to him at Stafford Rangers last Monday.

To my mind, it's a sensible move for both parties.

Some great Thornley memories, particularly during the first half of the 2001/02 season, when he was at his peak.

I just hope that his move to Witton doesn't mean that Cavell Coo drops back to the bench!

Let's hope that we are writing similarly eulogistic tributes to Carlos Logan in six years from now.

Hand on heart, if you can say that you would turn down an offer to quadruple (reportedly) your wages for doing a job that you enjoy, then feel free to jeer him.

Now, if Andy Scott were to return to Moss Lane, well, that would be a different matter....!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - if you want an example of the importance of a decent run in the side, look no further than Karl Munroe. Looked woeful for a long time after joining the club but went on to show his true worth after playing more regularly.

And he's now been dropped!

(Sorry - couldn't resist that one).

I do think that you make a fair point.....but Coo probably suffered from being initially assigned to the 'problem' left back position.

However, I think that the fact he has dropped down two leagues does speak volumes.
