TRAVEL WITH THE TEAM!
Paul Daine of STAR writes...
Travel to an away match on the team coach.

Altrincham FC have very generously offered the opportunity for one fan to travel to either the Weymouth game on Saturday 10 March or the Dagenham & Redbridge game on Saturday 14 April as guests of the club.

The package includes travel on the team coach on the Friday evening, overnight accommodation, breakfast, pre-match lunch, access to the boardroom and to watch the match from the directors’ seats plus a signed Altrincham FC shirt.

STAR is inviting fans to offer bids for the package by contacting Derek Wilshaw at the club on 0161 928 1045 or via e-mail: to Derek Wilshaw.

Geoff Goodwin has started the ball rolling with a bid of £150.00. If bidding reaches a high enough level the club are happy for one supporter to travel with the team to each of the Weymouth and Dagenham & Redbridge games.

All bids must be submitted to Derek by Wednesday 28 February.

Altrincham FC First Team / Message for Gary Warrington
« on: February 20, 2007, 12:30:17 AM »
Mister Warrington,

Don't forget our important wager re. the result of the Vics v Alty game, as agreed during our 'debate' on this Forum after the FA Trophy exit at Tamworth.....

If Alty win, I hand over £10.00 to the club.

If Vics win, you hand over £10.00 to the club.

If it's a draw, it's a donation of £5.00 each.

I sincerely hope that I am the one who has to reach for his cheque book on Wednesday morning....!

Altrincham FC First Team / Downward Spiral (a rant)
« on: February 10, 2007, 09:29:58 PM »
I left Southport fearing that we are destined for relegation and nothing I saw this afternoon against York City caused me to change my mind.

In short, we look stale and short of ideas.

I spoke to one of the press reporters after today's game and he said that his notes showed that York had 13 shots on target, whilst Alty could only muster two.
Well, I recall Thornley's shot rebounding off the post but for the life of me I can't recall the other one....and their keeper never had a shot to save.

It could easily have finished 7-0 to York.

How embarrassing was it to go from taking the kick-off to losing possession almost immediately and then conceding a goal within the opening minute?

Band was simply outclassed by the York forwards.

Where is Rose and, if he is fit, why on earth is he not at least on the bench ahead of Talbot?

Will we ever see our contracted players/spectators Thomson and Bowler again?

Why do we only appear to have two free kick routines:
(i) Aspinall lobs it towards Chalmers on the left (this tactic dates all way back to the days of Jeff Johnson circa 1978);
(ii) Aspinall or Peyton shoots wildly over the bar from 30 yards?

Why do we continually hit hopeful high balls in the direction of Colin Little and the minute figure of Chris Senior?

Seriously, is there not a better left full back out there than the ponderous Andy Scott?

Recently, the question I have been asking myself is: "Will we ever win away?"

Now it's "Will we ever win again?"

Yours, disillusioned and depressed of Hale.....who sees nothing positive about a return to the Conference North, no matter what our Chairman may say at the Fans' Forum...

Altrincham FC First Team / Wise words from John Laidlar's match report....
« on: February 04, 2007, 02:24:52 PM »
"After Holland had felled Lawton, Aspinall tried to find Lewis Chalmers from the freekick.
This was a repetitive ploy which became too predictable in today's game, being tried at least five times."

We've been using this free kick routine since the days when Jeff Johnson used to play for Alty!

Altrincham FC First Team / Query re. STAR AGM
« on: January 14, 2007, 10:27:59 PM »
In last Friday's post (12th January 2006), I received an envelope containing the official documentation relating to the Election Of Members and Proposing Motions for the STAR AGM on Monday, 29th January 2007.

The deadline for the receipt of the completed official forms for proposing a motion or the election of a new member is noon tomorrow (Monday, 15th January 2007) at the football ground.

Now, I don't want to be accused of STAR bashing (my Karma rating has been hammered enough already this weekend!) but all I wanted to say was that this just seems to me to be incredibly short notice!

Couldn't these documents have been posted out earlier?

Oh, and the envelope was stamped "Insufficient Postage Paid"!

Altrincham FC First Team / £4,000 (at least) thrown away...
« on: January 13, 2007, 05:24:33 PM »
£4,000 forfeited by today's defeat (and the potential for another £5,000 if we could have beaten Welling on Tuesday).

Very poor.

Will we ever win away again?

Altrincham FC First Team / Another quiz question....
« on: January 13, 2007, 04:14:27 PM »
Name the player who scored Alty's first ever goal against Welling United...

First prize: a football autographed by Josh Mitten.

614
Name the current Premiership player who began his career with Welling United.

The first correct answer wins a signed photograph of Len Rosenfield.
