Any information/guidance would be gratefully received.

Please allow an extra hour's travelling time when suggesting your route, so that we can stop and call in at several churches along the journey in order to offer prayers for an Alty victory...

Re. that photograph of some Army personnel trying to recruit people at Dagenham last Saturday afternoon, which the great John Laidlar has added to the official Alty website....

......is that a Kevan Guiney impersonator I spy lurking in the background..?!

......have we not handicapped ourselves by not using the player loans system much this season?

By my reckoning, the only player that we have brought in on loan has been Chris Senior (and now he's injured!).

So, is it purely down to finances?
I know that Thomson and Bowler have proved to be two futile leeches on the club's budget....but could we have done something to bring in an extra player during the hectic months of March and April?

After all, some minor speculation could have proved to be an inspired investment if it were to contribute towards Conference survival and all the accompanying financial benefits that follow.

I have heard it said that GH is not a fan of bringing in loan players.....but the fact remains that we are now struggling to fill the bench with able-bodied personnel.

What price an extra option now?

(Stands back to receive abuse....!)

Altrincham FC First Team / Threadbare Squad
« on: April 12, 2007, 04:44:03 PM »
I've just been reading the Messenger's report on current events at Moss Lane re. injuries and squad shortages etc. and it prompted a few random thoughts....

Is Kieran Lugsden still (technically) on Alty's books?
Could he be recalled from Leigh RMI?

Against Gravesend & Northfleet on Easter Monday, our substitutes' bench contained two ailing players who were apparently only named to make up the numbers i.e. Stuart Coburn and Gary Scott......and yet Justin Bowler still couldn't get in the squad!
That speaks volumes.

Would you have preferred to have seen (an admittedly not as fit as he was back in 2004) Eddie Hussin in midfield rather than an out-of-position Andy Scott?

Any observations?

Altrincham FC First Team / We were playing with 9 men today...
« on: April 09, 2007, 07:09:45 PM »
Gary Talbot:

Great servant to the club....but this has to be his final season.
Immobile and left totally stranded for Gravesend's second goal this afternoon.
In fact, he was fortunate not to be sent off in the first half.

Andy Scott:

I'm sorry, but this guy is completely out of his depth at Conference level.
Who on earth decided that he would be worth signing?
Woeful.

Things could have been different if Warren Peyton had not wasted a great chance when it was still only 1-0....only for them to then go straight up the other end and score their second.

Excerpt from the Messenger this week:

"Now the only outstanding debts are directors' loans owed to former board members and they too will be paid off when the club receives its share of the money generated by Trafford Council's sale of the land behind Moss Lane's Hale End."

Please, please tell me that this doesn't relate to the Director's Loan of over £300k attributed to a certain Gerald Berman.

I thought that the only way that he could claim this money back was if the club were to relocate from Moss Lane?

He nearly destroyed this club with his ludicrous Fantasy Football regime at Moss Lane.

Please leave us alone.

Someone on this Forum the other week asked about who is currently the longest serving manager at a Conference club.

Anyhow, after some research on this matter, I have compiled the relevant statistics.

By my calculations, GH lies fourth, behind Nigel Clough, Chris Wilder and Phil Robinson.

Would you believe that 11 of the Conference's 24 clubs have changed their manager during the 2006/07 season?

Conference Managers: April 2007

Aldershot: Martin Kuhl (Caretaker Manager - appointed in March 2007 when Terry Brown stepped down)
Altrincham: Graham Heathcote (appointed in October 2002)
Burton Albion: Nigel Clough (appointed in October 1998)
Cambridge United: Jimmy Quinn (appointed in September 2006)
Crawley Town: Ben Judge & David Woozley (replaced John Hollins in October 2006)
Dagenham & Redbridge: John Still (appointed in April 2004)
Exeter City: Paul Tisdale (appointed in June 2006)
Forest Green Rovers: Jim Harvey (appointed in September 2006)
Gravesend & Northfleet: Liam Daish (appointed in February 2005)
Grays Athletic: Justin Edinburgh (appointed in January 2007)
Halifax Town: Chris Wilder (appointed in May 2002)
Kidderminster Harriers: Mark Yates (appointed in January 2006)
Morecambe: Sammy McIlroy (appointed in May 2006; Caretaker since November 2005)
Northwich Victoria: Steve Burr (appointed in the summer of 2004)
Oxford United: Jim Smith (appointed in March 2006)
Rushden & Diamonds: Gary Hill (appointed in February 2007)
St Albans City: Colin Lippiatt (appointed in October 2004)
Stafford Rangers: Phil Robinson (appointed in the summer of 2002)
Southport: Peter Davenport (appointed in January 2007)
Stevenage Borough: Mark Stimson (appointed in May 2006)
Tamworth: Gary Mills (appointed in January 2007)
Weymouth: Jason Tindall (appointed in January 2007)
Woking: Graham Baker (Caretaker Manager since Glenn Cockerill was sacked in March 2007)
York City: Billy McEwan (appointed in February 2005)

Altrincham FC First Team / Flynny....get your boots ready, son!
« on: April 01, 2007, 09:25:11 PM »
So, Brian Flynn won the draw to travel down with the team for the forthcoming fixture at Dagenham.

The way that we are incurring injuries at present, he may well get a game at right back....

Let's organise an end of season raffle to win Peter Thomson's official (but now redundant) Altrincham FC blazer.

Altrincham FC First Team / The Moss Lane Miracle
« on: March 28, 2007, 12:46:03 PM »
In the second half last evening, who was the Stafford player that was writhing in 'agony' in our penalty area at the Chequers End......only then suddenly and miraculously to spring to his feet and sprint back to the opposite end of the pitch when Colin Little won a free kick on the edge of the Stafford penalty area?

He received a wonderfully sarcastic round of applause from the Main Stand!

Altrincham FC First Team / Stuart Thurgood - suspended on Tuesday?
« on: March 18, 2007, 11:56:22 AM »
I note that the Grays captain (and rather good midfield player) Stuart Thurgood was sent off in yesterday's FA Trophy semi-final second leg tie at Stevenage Borough.

Does this mean that he will be ineligible to play against us at Moss Lane on Tuesday evening?

Unexpected bonus for us if he's missing!
