Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Hartlepool United (A) Match Thread
« on: February 20, 2024, 10:08:06 PM »

How on earth did we recede from complete control during the first half to that second-half omnishambles?

We should have been 2-0 up at half-time. Angus did really well to create that opportunity but then totally fluffed his finish.

We could even have added a second goal early in the second half with that Mooney chance.

Gould then proceeded to endure a nightmarish few minutes. What on earth was he doing not coming out to collect that ball which was headed back to him?
And then you could see him conceding that penalty from a mile off.

Fortunately, their goalkeeper was as poor as ours and was at fault for both Alty's goals.

We simply imploded in the face of their pressure and our away form is looking alarmingly brittle. I don't think that I've ever seen Marriott give such a substandard performance.

Parkinson's post-match interview should be enlightening.

He will never take responsibility.

His biggest mistake tonight was the change of shape and removing two players, who were causing them issues.

If he mentions that we ‘need’ to rotate over the remaining games, well Hartlepool just picked up 6 points, with the same starting 11 and us, zero.

He simply got it wrong.

Can he please give up on wingbacks, even if the opposition change their formation. We looked so disorganised and all central. Only worked away at Gateshead and awful in all the other games.

Three individual errors - three goals. Matt Gould looks tiny in the goals, we need Ethan back sharpish.

He is small  and struggles with shots to his side. He has been poor 2 games now.

Didn’t come off his line and when he did, I thought it was my dad running out.

Firstly, Hartlepool were not good and they started the same 11 as on Saturday.

That was on Parky.I understand there might have to be some rotation ( a couple of players, now and then) , but 5 and all your front 4. All the goals taken away.

Such a comfortable first half. They hated Mooney and Kossy running at them out wide. They couldn’t get close to us, the formation was spot on.

That second half was awful, embarrassing.Parky panicked after the pen and changed our shape. Taking both wide players off.

That suited Hartlepool, meant most of the play was central and scrappy. They enjoyed that battle, because we couldn’t play through them.

Awful subs and tactics, this is Parky’s weakness when we are chasing games.

When we went two down then surely Linney for Angus and CCC for Wilson. Angus is way off what is needed. We need to get Ethan back ASAP, Gould had a stinker.

Trouble with so many rotations is players being rusty. Angus and Roscoe certainly looked that way.

I would be playing the same 11 every game, unless the player tells you he isn’t 100%. Wouldn’t minded changes out wide and Wilson for Osborne but that was too much.

We look dog turd with wingbacks, always look so disorganised and panicky in our play. Should have kept the shape and just changed the players.

In my opinion, 3 points dropped. Did not rate them at all.

Disagree, rotation should be feared. We don’t get the results when we rotate.

Full time players should be able to play Sat and Tues.

Need to give Hartlepool respect, like anyone else in this league.

Does it make sense…?,when he has already contributed more than other wide player, outside the first 11.

I personally feel we need him, even this evening. Would have chose him over Mooney and Kossy to replace Amaluzor.

He can also make us more direct and attacking from a RB position and could have started there to rotate Banks in coming games.

Fantastic day and win.

Gould doing really well. We know our best 11 when Ross returns.

Up the Alty.

Would hate to move away from Moss Lane.

Would it be worth hiring a field expert in looking at ways to divert water away from the ground externally. Prevent it from coming under the pitch in the first place.

Build a drainage system and pitch on top of a concrete base…

Look at where the water drains off the pitch, maybe a bigger and more direct large pipe that could meet the drains outside.

Putting tubing under the pitch doesn’t mean it is expected to drain away successfully. Needs a free flowing direction out of the ground.

Not having that a high water table is the reason why the game was called off today.

Need an official update from the club.

What are the issues with the pitch?

With the pitch guarantee, was it 10 years? Does it include repairs, because it is clearly not draining as it should.

Have the club investigated the local water drainage from the ground for a mile or 2. Could be a blockage further away from the ground, restricting flow……

Why are we advertising that we were confident the game was going ahead and no update until just before 5.

Has the sprinkler pipes been checked?could be a leak there…

180k on a pitch and it is really poor, after only 2 seasons.

I would replace Angus with Donawa in the match day squad.
If Linney needs pulling, for whatever reason, in a game then Amulazor or CCC could fill the spot.
Sorry for sounding harsh but I feel Angus is a waste of a sub, hasn’t impacted a game, since Chesterfield at home.

We were very good today.

Literally blew them away, they couldn’t deal with our tempo and waves of attacks.

Top team performance.

Linney deserved the MOTM. He has been immense in the last two games and seems back to full match fitness. Different animal with him up top.

Need to be keeping Newby, so consistent.

See they had  4-4 thriller on wednesday.

            Gould

Banks.  Cooper.  Baines.  Jones

     Marriott.   Osbourne

  Newby.   Con-Clarke.  Amaluzor

           Linney

Alty 3-1 Eastleigh (Linney, Con-Clarke x2)

Only thing that can scupper is the pitch

Same as above.

Hoping for an update on the pitch before the game.

If Ross is fit hes back in. Only choice is Newby or Amaluzor
The rest pick themselves.

Southend 1-1 Alty (Newby (pen))

I would say Newby has been our most consistent wide player for a fair few games.

Think the choice would be Mooney or Amaluzor.

Mooney was probably the only one on Tuesday who didn’t really get into the game ( apart from the subs ).

If fit, then I would start Amaluzor, but he needs step up his performances.

No reason why we can’t go and get all 3 points.

Played really well at times. Eddie Jones was very good.
Poor subs let Chesterfield come onto us.
No idea what is up with Amaluzor but he was shocking when he came on. He watched Berry run past him.
As for Angus, brings nothing. Linney was a constant threat, just keep him on for the 90, he didn’t play on Saturday.
I hope Ross’s injury isn’t serious. Gould should have saved that first goal.
Most gutting for me is that we have loss and out of the trophy, such a shame.
Need to dip into the loan market for a back up striker and CM.

Altrincham FC First Team / Chesterfield Match Thread

After yesterday, we need a result.

I hope we get at them from the whistle. High tempo and positive.

Hopefully, PP is brave and we start our best 11 and formation.

We dramatically reduce our threat, when we play wingbacks and Chesterfield would eventually pick us off.

Team near enough picks itself.

                         Ross

Banks   Cooper/Roscoe  Baines   Jones

           Marriott     Osborne

 Amaluzor       CCC       Newby

                    Linney

Subs : Cooper, Mooney, Kossy, Wilson, Angus

Think he will start Cooper over Roscoe because he likes right and left foot CB’s. I have been impressed with Roscoe recently, wins a lot of headers. I personally would have him and Baines on Tuesday.

Amaluzor is due a good game, can go missing in away games.

Think it will be a draw.

So disappointed.

That should have been our best 11. Another massive trophy opportunity gone.

As for our pen takers, awful line-up, even though we beat Halifax with the same takers. We need to change our first choice pen taker. Linney or Newby for me.

Linney wasn’t even in the first 5 takers, mental.

After this we best not crumble and show too much respect to Chesterfield. Our best 11 and no sh*tty wingbacks.

Give them a go from the off.
