Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Alty TV - Highlights Vs Nuneaton Town

Marshall will always be full of mistakes,  positionally he often isn't goal side and let's face it he turns like a bus, commits himself high up the pitch for headers,  loses quite a lot and leaves Luca short. He's just not intelligent like Luca and Scott, he gets red mist. I watch with a close eye and he's been a fault or it's his marker that knocks it in. He has grown on me but if fit then it needs to be Scott and Luca. I told you eightiesrobin Williams best player in the first half, the highlights clearly showed his drive, wanting the ball and very successful passes ;-)

Crowther didnt want the ball in the first half and quite rightly so in my opinion. The ground was hard, the ball bobbling and it was not easy to turn on the worst part of the pitch. No point pinging the ball to him, when he cant change direction and expect the ball to bounce funny. I sometimes think people have a go at players without thinking. Second half however he was poor.
hey? Oh dear! I was brought up, no matter the conditions you put on a shirt, want the ball and put yourself about. Sorry mate but worst comment I've ever seen on here!  Clee got in near enough straight away committed a defender and slipped into Jimmy.  His attitude stunk, he was sulking like a school kid. At least give things a go!

Too add about Williams as with Richman they bring energy and cover lots of ground which are massive attributes in this league even though the standard has massively dropped since we were last in it!

Love Moult too! I think we have good centre mids. We need two wide men, Clee is injured too often, a strong and quick forward and a centre back cover as I personally see lots of mistakes in Marshall but wouldn't be fair to expand when he's been playing well!

To add to my reply to eightiesrobin. I totally agree about Kyle, truly awful and embarrassing!

A few points:

Why Nicky Clee played on the right and Crowther on the left is beyond me. As soon as they swapped positions, Nicky looked better. Then, they revert to their original places for the second half.

Ryan Crowther looked like the kid at school who hates PE. Short of standing still, pulling his sleeves over his hands, then putting them down his shorts, he could not have looked less interested.  A real sulk today.

Sean Williams is not up to it IMO. All huff and puff with a consistently average final ball.

Greg Wilkinson must have been shell-shocked at seeing action so early, which probably explained the fact that he disappeared the entire time he was on the pitch. I genuinely think he doesn't know what his role is. Put him out of his misery Lee.

Kyle Perry. What more is there to say? I know that people will come on here and start digging me and saying he has a role to play, but I say you're all wrong. I don't think I have ever seen a man look less like a footballler. When he blasted his shot so wide of the goal that it went for a throw in, Alty fans were laughing. He is now not even the best striker in Stubblemelt.

Williams was the best player on the pitch first half. Such a difference watching it from the stand, he won the ball, he drove and his pasing was very good

I watched the first half from the stand and saw the fear in Crowther's eyes when the ball was coming towards him, he simply didn't want to be on the pitch today. Clee is most definately a no no on the right, far too narrow today. Clee and Griffin attacking are our weapons, Nicky never has been effective cutting in,he's so good at taking them on out wide then maybe cutting in when in the box.  Moult and Williams in the first 30 mins were unreal, they bossed it but we faded and the second half performance was as cold as the weather!

One of the first to criticise Marshall but he was a beast today,  however Macc have nothing up top or wide. Griffin was good again and the midfield three of Richman, Cav and Williams won it for us. Macc hate being closed down

Griffin is doing a lot better but the difference is his forward play which I did mention at the start of the season that he needed to get forward. He's doing really well but he will still get rinsed. For me it's his defensive play he needs to convince me on!

I am very critical of Lee at times so thought I'd say well done on recent performances and post match comments.  Seems like I missed another good game today. Well done boys!

Altrincham FC First Team / The defence
« on: November 11, 2014, 09:00:35 PM »
I am hoping this will my last post for a while as I am sick of repeating myself and seeing dire performances.

I have just read Lee's post match comments after Saturday and it appears to show emotion which is a good thing but he goes on about the defence but he is the one selecting the wrong defence.

Lets take a step back to our promotion season and especially the final, Havern and Leather were a success, solid and comfortable together, lets look at our best patch this season in which we hardly conceded and it was after Marshall sending off. I am not entirely blaming Marshall for the poor defensive perfomances but he isn't good enough, he's nervous, slow, commits himself high and just isn't fit enough. This has then had a knock on effect with Havern's performances. Havern loses his confidence and is caught out of position when playing with him, you can see and feel it. It just doesn't work.

Now Havern and Leather are solid and comfortable, Scott is four times the ball winner than Marshall and Havern sweeps, they do it extremely well together. Scott is our best centre back and those two together bring confidence to the team and more importantly Stuart. It is so clear so if Sinnott has any decent tactical ability then we start the team sheet with those two names written first as centre backs.

We have a lot of dead wood, lets go one or two divisions below and get keen, young, strong and fit lads. Give Gillespie a few games or get rid, get rid of Mike Williams, Marshall and Perry. Trouble is Lee lives so far away he can't do mid week local game scouting but I guarantee there will be better players than those mentioned above, we need players who can play at a high tempo, closing down, eager and just hungry to succeed at this level.

Lee needs to make some brave decisions now before we make this even harder for ourselves. We just can't have any passengers, we need more aggressive players too but for now get our best back four back together and build from there. We need to stay in this league. s

I was so excited about the Macc performance and then spoke to my Macc fan mate after the game and he said if that's one of your best performances over recent years then you really are sh*t. I thought about it and even though it was a great performance, it was better because us fans don't get our money's worth each week out of this current team and management! Should be ashamed of some of the performances

It's so obvious he doesn't get them up for it! Jeeze we are going around in small circles. I keep repeating myself but the Warrington manager and performance is my comparison, I just knew we'd get battered today. We don't turn up, get rid!
