Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Duncan Watmore watch
« on: April 25, 2015, 02:43:22 PM »
I appreciate the standard is a massive step up but I've watched Sunderland a few times recently and I honestly feel Duncs could make a  difference.  It's ridiculous how he hasn't been given a chance. If I was him and the interest was there I'd go to a top Championship side and get noticed that way..I've been so excited all season, I hope they get battered.

We missed the unsung hero more than anyone else yesterday and my player of the season with Coburn, Richman, Griffin, Densmore and Havern closely behind. Well deserved recognition from his team mates.  Breaks up so many opposition attacks and plays it simple but effective!

Defo keep Lawrie as he can be a game winner but would be a sub and only brought on behind Reeves

Altrincham FC First Team / The team going forward???
« on: March 15, 2015, 01:12:02 PM »
Just wondering the thoughts on the team going forward.  At present I feel this is our best 11 and formation is :-

                    Coburn ( GK )

Densmore ( RB )   Havern ( CB )           Leather ( CB )           Griffin ( LB )

         Cav ( CM )               Moult ( DM )

                    Richman
( CM but in reality all over the pitch )

       Crowther ( RF )                   Clee ( LF )
             Reeves ( CF )

I appreciate we have had some tough games but reverting back to 4-4-2 doesn’t work, it was clear how much we missed Richman yesterday, we defo need three in midfield in this league. Looking forward we need to look for more consistant attacking wide players who can take people on and put a decent ball in:-
Crowther – Still not convinced but can have a few good moments
Clee – Class, ageing and is injured a LOT!
Lawrie – Frustrates the hell out of me, soft, lazy at times but can get us some goals but for me his only position is central behind the striker.
Sinnott – Sluggish, not enough pace but has potential to put a ball in.

Perry deserved a couple of games after the Macc second half but he has a different mentality when he starts. He never seems up for it and is very very lazy. Reeves shot in the first half yesterday which the keeper parried and he was miles away. I would get rid in the summer but if he must stay then an impact player at the best.

Marshall has improved a lot and I even thought we may have not conceded two goals from corners with his presence. I will never be 100% convinced like I am with Luca, but he has improved.

Massive improvements with some players this season from what I have seen:-
Richman - for me is player of the season just for his effort ad energy
Moult -  always an unsung hero, he was excellent yesterday and breaks up so many attacks
Griffin - improved by ten times the player he was, energy and now stands up to players rather than diving in
Dens – his energy, over lapping attacking and crosses have been so dangerous and I felt he started badly but we miss him so much when out injured
Reeves - work rate and holding the ball up has been excellent

To release in the summer? Sinnott ? Gillespie, Perry!

Overall I feel we have played great football but I would defo go back to the above formation with three in the midfield, two wide wingers / forwards to push on to support Reevesy and having Dens and Griff bombing on as we have Cav and Moult to cover. I feel when we have Lawrie and Perry starting we have lost so much energy and the opposition has far more room on the pitch. I watched Cav yesterday at right back when he was high up, he lost the ball and was screaming at Lawrie to run back, he wasn’t going to follow his man until shouted at. With Dens you might get away with it as he has the energy to run up and down all day, also their first goal came from a soft Lawrie challenge in which he should have won the ball. Very talented player but this league is about composure, energy and big hearts.

Lawrie, Sinnott and Perry awful, lazy and shocking distribution!

Some good passing on a bobbling pitch.

Still feel with need Cav in there for a 3 man midfield.

Perry is a different player when he starts and that is lazy.

Always miss Clee and Sinnot isn't doing too well.

I'd look to bring Crowther and Cav on for Sinnott and Perry second half and going 4-5-1 to match them but counter with wide players of Lawrie and Crowther with Dens and Griff over lapping as wing backs..

What I recall from Sinnott's first spell is not a quality player but distribution is very good so I'd give him a go!

CB Havern

DM Moult
CM Richman
CM Cav

LM / LF Clee

CF Reeves

Totally agree, never should be shut off. If there is a larger away support then at least open half the terrace because it's always a better atmosphere second half and we can then get right behind the team. The boys ran there hearts out today, again Richman is not human and Moult covered ridiculous ground. Awful ref but I would go back to our 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 formation, that's however you look at it. Ref was one of the worst I've seen, the black defender comitted around 4 bookable offences and then the push on Richman for the pen was a defo yellow and if Dens took it then we may have been looking at 2-1 at halftime with ten on ten. I said they would sub him, ref gave them a get out of jail card! Awful

Altrincham FC First Team / Decisions?
« on: February 23, 2015, 03:41:16 PM »
Big decisions! I wasn't there on Saturday but do we go back to three in the middle when we were picking up points? Perry definately deserved a starting place after the Macc second half but starting him each game will be a backwards step as it completely changes how we play ( i.e long ball ) and we lose a man in midfield. Never have doubted Lawrie's ability but for the games I've seen him out wide he is often a passenger at this level but always has the potential to smash one in the top corner. For us to start picking up points I'd go back to the 4-3-3 formation with the following team gk coburn lb griff rb dens cb marshall or leather cb havern dm moult cm cav cm Richman lf clee rf sinnot ( give him a couple of games to see where he is at ) cf reeves. We can not afford passengers at this level. For me Perry and Lawrie are impact players

Yeah I was aware but we are desperate for wide players to beat someone and get the ball in. I'd defo try LF Clee CF Reeves RF Sinnott. For me we need Cav, Richman and Moult in midfield.       in

Potential so good signing and a lot better than Ryan Crowther! Obvious we need wide players so let's give him a try again. Great delivery of the ball and lots of energy

I have slated Marshall and Perry at times but both excellent tonight and Marshall is playing well.
