Good post above. Leather was immense today,  Parry looks decent but I've said it from day one Luca and Scott are league standard together. Sinnott did well first and ran out of steam in the second,  still feel we need another centre mid and left back( as cover ). Moult and Richman full of wheetabix as normal, unreal energy those two have.

Excellent first half won that, every player in that half worked so hard and the passing was very good. We won the balls and they couldn't cope with Rankine. Lawrie had that much needed rocket up his bum, we all know how talented you are pal so work like that each game,  just excellent.

Best formation for us.

Parry fitted in very well.

The fan who criticised me for rating Bowerman after 10 mins in first game...... eat your words boy haha!

All the best Masha, I have heavily criticised him in the past but he earned his spot over last season and this is a big loss to us. Good luck in the recovery.

Forever hearing ' lost by Lawrie' started the season as a passenger.  Get Reeves and Clee on,  Rankine is a good player but we never pick up the pieces around him. Need 4-5-1 with Clee and Bowerman as high wide players and Reeves up top. Need another centre mid alongside Richman with Moult as defensive mid.

It's a shame that all interesting roles you need all these qualifications nowadays. Sounds exciting.

Yeah Bowerman would be a gamble as I've not seen enough but he has energy and closes defenders down - defend from the front. Yeah after Saturday you would stick with the back 4 and Sinnot.

Fully fit and what I've briefly seen I would go....

                                      COBURN

DENSMORE     HAVERN     LEATHER     GRIFFIN

                            MOULT       RICHMAN

BOWERMAN               LAWRIE                  CLEE

                                      REEVES

Nice one Ecky.

Yeah I hope we can adapt with two up top as Rankine appears like a good player, I just hope it doesn't take away our passing game. I still feel we play better with three in the midfield centre but let's give it go.

Hope to be proven wrong but from first evaluation O'Keefe is missing three big attributes which is energy, pace and strength. Early doors so I want him to prove me wrong. We need a centre mid in the mould of Steve Connors but who can stay fit haha!

Altrincham FC First Team / Early thoughts
« on: August 08, 2015, 05:28:11 PM »
Never attend pre-season as it doesn’t really matter.

Early thoughts...... good in parts in the first half but awful in the second.

We are still better playing the 4-5-1 with two high wide players i.e. Clee and probably Bowerman.

We need to look for a centre mid because in 80 mins I already know that most games in this league will past O’Keefe by. I appreciate it is one game but I am confident he’s not as good as Williams or even Wilkinson. When we play three in centre mid then Moult must always be the defensive midfield so that means no place for Griffin so we need a more attack minded player.

Lawrie is not a wide player as we all know, I wanted to slap him today soooo soft in his approach and more interested in the foul rather than winning the ball. His only position in an Alty team is behind Reevesy.

Rankine can obviously play but again a big man up front takes away our passing again, second half didn’t involve any passing, just long balls. A big man to me is an impact player but he isn’t here to sit on the bench. We must remember Reeves is our main man up top.

I thought Sinnott had a good game but I am still very much undecided.

The defence stood up well, our 5 defenders at the club are very much good enough just worry about cover.

And finally, as always, we missed Richman and Clee.

Oh, please push out quicker, we seemed to have a line of players just waiting for the balls to keep coming back in.

Onwards and upwards

I have a photo of what I mean but it won't attach using my phone. Basically a floating platform, the stand roof should have supporting bars and if not they can be easily fitted but it all costs a lot of money. Would look smart though!

I haven't read all the posts so I apologise if I repeat suggestions. Firstly just keep all games segregated, if needed set up higher fencing in the far corner, it's always a better atmosphere too, I enjoy the banter and look forward to the second half - as mentioned there is only a handful of games which need distance segregation. The scaffolding is a problem and I don't know why they don't use supports from the stand roof to hold the recording area, it would then be like a floating platform with no metal underneath. Then have a twisted staircase at the back of the stand leading up. You can't film it from the stand and have running commentary it would cause a load of complaints from those paying extra to sit, they don't want Flynny screaming in the stand haha! All costs money but support scaffolding from the roof!

Altrincham FC First Team / Duncan to Liverpool?
« on: May 30, 2015, 02:05:37 PM »
I have heard a rumour that Liverpool might put in for Watmore. If true it would be an excellent and right move. Closer to the family, a team who need to freshen things up and a better team than Sunderland......just haha! I also think Brendan gives English youngsters a chance!
