Altrincham FC First Team / Defence and centre midfield
« on: July 25, 2018, 03:38:14 PM »
We have some very good players in both areas.

Assuming PP goes with two defensive mids ,what are people's thoughts?

I know he won't drop Moult but I would consider starting Harrop and Williams for home games or maybe have Harrop as an attacking midfield/No.10. Although Hancock is decent in the hole.

Centre backs,I have no idea. All 4 are very good at this level,I suppose Harrison with another...?

Altrincham FC First Team / Next season's squad
« on: April 30, 2018, 03:53:44 PM »
I am intrigued to the thoughts of the supporters moving forward with this squad.I am sure PP and Neil will be looking to commit players for next season sooner rather than later.

Just my opinion but I would retain:-

Defenders

Dens
Hampson
James Jones
Hannigan
Harrison
White ( he has very much improved, I would still have Hampson as first choice LB )

Midfield

Moult
Richman
Harrop
JJ
Peers

Forwards

Hancock (No.10)
Poole
Hulme

I can't fault Thompson's attitude and passion but he gives the ball back to the opposition far too often and next season we would be punished more. He can also have a rush of blood when coming off his line. Maybe keep him as a squad player and try to develop him but for me we defo need a new keeper.

I would give Miller and Taylor pre season. I would enquire about Merrie, the lad has potential.

I would release :

Heathcote ( did OK against Marine at centre back )
Amis
Omotola
Bailey-Jones ( busy player but not the best close control )

I haven't seen enough of the youth / reserve players but I don't think any,as of yet, would make the first 11.

I feel we are 5 or 6 players short of pushing for playoffs/promotion. Again just my opinion but I feel we are short in certain areas:-

Goalkeeper

Cover at RB

Tall athletic centre mid (not not necessarily to replace anyone)

A wide player who is similar to JJ. Someone with pace who can go on the outside or inside of defenders. Both Peers and Hancock have done decent jobs in that role but maybe someone more natural in the wing position. Again not to currently replace anyone.

A striker to push Jordan who has been immense.

Altrincham FC First Team / No plan B
« on: March 20, 2018, 10:14:28 PM »
Can someone tell me why Poole deserves to play? I compared him to Lawrie after the friendlies, he does have more about him but we can't afford luxury players when we NOW need to fight. His corners and crosses don't beat the first man. I would say 80% of games he has no influence.

Harrop should have come on for Poole. Moult had a better second half but still off his game.

Why can't the players put in the effort of Richman. Outstanding tonight. Deserved his MOTM.

JJ has been awful recently. Get him on the left.

White had a better second half but he is crap.Merrie has a left foot, play him left back until Hampson is back.

There is no plan B,we signed Heathcote as a back up striker. What the hell?  Sign a striker or get Miller back from his loan. We have a load of centre mids???? and only Peers as a back up to Hulme but he won't bring him on up top.

Hulme has done well over the season but he's not your out and out goalscorer.

Why haven't Alty got a player who can score every week at this level??? Shocking.

Peers and Harrop should have come on with 20 left.

This is where PP let's himself down......no plan B or brave decisions. We had some momentum but Harrop should have come on for Poole.

We don't get enough players into the box. Poole hardly makes the runs but when he has made that that run in the past he has scored a couple.

He is not going to drop Moult so have Richman next to him and Harrop as the No.10. He has a decent shot, pass and would drive into the box.

This bloody club stresses me out.

Altrincham FC First Team / Superstition
« on: March 19, 2018, 09:52:40 AM »
Always been a bit superstitious but I would prefer us shooting towards the golf road end first half. We had some good results under Heathcote and Sinnott doing it this way.
I think it has only happened during the Stourbridge game and we were 4 up at half time. May have happened against Stafford also, which wasn't so good.
Then we wont be trying to play in the mud and actually play some football in the better half of the pitch.
Just a thought.

Altrincham FC First Team / Moult, goalkeeper and striker
« on: March 17, 2018, 05:10:54 PM »
It is embarrassing now and I feel for the lad but Moult needs a rest. Played that first half like an OAP.

Also he has no influence as a captain, quiet and doesn't pull his players away from the ref. He should have grabbed Dens and prevented that first half caution. Yes Dens should have kept his mouth shut, but do your job as a captain and take him away from the situation.

We will need a new keeper next season. He is absolutely awful at kicking and dwells on decision making. Only decent at shot stopping close range. His kicking has been terrible for most of the season. I brought a lad down today and he couldn't believe his kicking.

We need a striker as a plan B to Jordan and Heathcote will never be the answer.

I have been positive for most of the season and I know this is a negative post but I am fuming and can actually see us throwing it away because we are not brave enough to drop players who are not performing in Moult and Thompson.

I said it weeks ago but Warrington are the team we should be worried about.

Altrincham FC First Team / Poole, Moult and Warrington
« on: January 27, 2018, 05:08:40 PM »
Said it before and a good player but Poole for 90% of the time is not involved. Better than Lawrie but similar. Play Hancock number 10.

Moult wins those headers but looks tired. Play Richman and Harrop, they have the energy.

Hampson is class.

Warrington are a concern because they are solid. Huge draw.

Great fight to the end.

Altrincham FC First Team / Hancock

Did Hancock play number 10 last night?

Altrincham FC First Team / Best starting 11
« on: November 15, 2017, 06:45:04 PM »
I am intrigued to the thoughts of everyone's best 11 if everyone was fit,and playing to the potential that we have seen at some point.

GK Deasy ( if he could recover the form of 2/3 seasons ago, Thompson has been doing well )

RB Densmore ( just has more to offer than Bembo-Leta, who hasn't done much wrong)
LB Short ( Hampson looks decent )
CB Harrison ( first choice CB, he has been immense)
CB Jones ( just edges Hannigan because of speed and distribution)

DM Moult ( best position for him, keep him away from pens though)

LW JJ ( our danger man and is more effective by a country mile on the left)
RW Miller ( fingers crossed to get him back fit )
CM Richman ( our best midfielder this season but needs to keep tabs on his discipline)

CF Poole or Hancock as the no.10. ( Poole is a class player but I think Hancock would be more influential in that position. Not actually bothered...even one. Not a massive fan of Hancock on the wings but hard to leave out)
ST Hulme ( just edges Peers but Tom has a much better shot and speed, Hulme holds it up much better)

I would like to see more of Walsh without risking points. We have young Taylor who is an asset when fit. Harrop has impressed me. The depth of the squad is quality at this level. I feel Amis will struggle, I think he would slow our play down. Hulme holds it but shifts the ball on quicker.

Altrincham FC First Team / Richman and Moult
« on: October 29, 2017, 08:28:22 AM »
Both out for Buxton, they have been playing well together. Taylor is back training this week so I would start him on Sat to get minutes for Shaw Lane. On Saturday I would go Harrop and Taylor or maybe have Bembo-Leta as a defensive midfielder.
Shaw Lane away, Richman is back but no Moult, if possible I would like to see Taylor and Richman. I appreciate Taylor has been out a while but he is naturally a fit lad so minutes on Saturday are vital.

Altrincham FC First Team / Liam Hardy
« on: October 21, 2017, 09:34:12 PM »
I think it has been discussed but can't recall whether anyone had confirmed whether we know if Liam Hardy is on a contract at Buxton?
I really like Jordan Hulme, his work rate is first class but we are still missing a natural goalscorer and Hardy is at peak striker age.
Seems to read he was bought by Darlington from Buxton and possibly loaned back to them?

Altrincham FC First Team / Changes
« on: September 30, 2017, 05:00:47 PM »
Bembo-Leta is full of mistakes, doesn't read the game well, he makes me very nervous. Always fouling.
We need Dens at RB and Short LB which is better balanced and both get forward well.
I would start Richman in centre mid over Sheridan. Sheridan is a good passer but gets over run with only him and Jake in there.
We massively missed JJ today. Need him on the right for Peers and somehow fit Miller in.

Altrincham FC First Team / No.7 Prince Haywood?
« on: August 28, 2017, 06:15:24 PM »
If the team sheet is correct then we need to look at this player. Looked like a winger but played in the middle of the park with skill and speed. Could give us so much needed centre mid energy?

Altrincham FC First Team / Jerome Wright
« on: August 12, 2017, 09:35:33 PM »
Scored both goals for a victory and we now have Harrop with a stupid hair style. Poole gets away with it as he can play football. Sad times.

Altrincham FC First Team / Taylor and Richman
« on: August 05, 2017, 06:37:35 PM »
I personally feel Taylor and Richman in centre mid will win us more games than Moult and Sheridan. I rate Sheridan and Moult but with two centre mids you need at least one battler and we should have the fire power ahead of those two. You won't get away with two ball passing centre mids unless they are a 3 man centre mid. It is that simple.

Altrincham FC First Team / Time to get behind Buzz and the team.
« on: January 03, 2017, 06:45:25 PM »
There has been so much negativity on this forum and just generally in and around our club for too long now. 2016 has gone but I am confident we have made the right choice of management team, not manager ( yet - to be proven) but management until the end of the season.

We were already falling apart when Young took over but he really destroyed us with placing poor players on contracts and not retaining players like Clee, Leather and Havern, plus ridiculous turnover of players .  Never rated Harvey, poor tactics and awful during interviews. He repeated himself every bloody week. How he's been in the game so long but to come across so lost baffles me.

In Buzz we have a young manager in charge who was once described by Heathcote as someone who would run through walls to play, similar to Jones now. His interviews are straight talking, he explains the situation, he corrects mis quotes and he fully updates you.

People moaned when we signed Brownhill but we only had one left footed player at the club. He has brought balance, aggression and characters into the team. We have missed that since assistant Robbie Lawton left the club. Lawton another great acquisition by Buzz.

As for Heathcote, he did take a pay off but wouldn't anyone expect that? if you were to leave an employment position. He still had a mortgage, a family and young Sam Heathcote to feed. I have said it before but there are sometimes more important things than football and that is providing for your family.

I can assure you he loves this club and you can add Young's and Harvey's knowledge of non league football together and it won't even come near to Graham. I have been lucky enough to listen to his pre match talks, which quickly stopped after he left and the man has charisma and passion. He will get you up for a fight.

Yeah it may be too late to prevent relegation but we must still fight. The club for the first time since Sinnot left have made the correct decision. That dressing room now has characters that have been missing for far too long. Everyone fit, we will pick up points.

Time to give them a chance. Any moaning about the new signings or releases ....? No, so already he is achieving more than the two previous managers. I don't expect a result against Macclesfield and for me save the players for the league fight.
